Bethanne Hamlin has been through the wringer during the past six years. Her husband left her for a younger woman. She was left with two children and a house which she had to kept up. She had not finished college and had not worked. She had turned a knack of turning birthday parties into ones to remember so she simply expanded her knack to other parties. Now her business had really taken off. Now, she had an assistant to keep the business running so she was free to accompany her ex-mother-in-law on a trip from Portland, Oregon to Florida. Her Mother-in-law, Ruth, intended on driving cross country to her 50th high school reunion. Both of Ruth’s children objected at the thought of her alone on the road. However, once Bethanne and her daughter, Anne, decided to go, they gave in.
So Bethanne, Ruth, and Anne set out following Ruth’s directions. Soon, they found themselves changing the itinerary to visit a long-time friend of Ruth’s. Detours, changes in plans, run-ins with bikers, and car problems all add up to a fun adventure from Washington State to Vero Beach, Florida.
The book is fun to read and really makes smiles appear as you read. Making decisions which change your life is never easy to make alone but Debbie Macomber makes it seem effortless.
Should have read the reviews before buying the book!!
I was very disappointed. This book was written on cocktail napkins or something. Not Macombers usual good story.
