-Turtle Beach Grip 300-

This is a solid mouse.

WHO THIS MOUSE IS GOOD FOR (I feel it is two groups of people):

--If you just want a premium quality tactile mouse for all-around use that feels great in your hand, and you don't need or care if it is wireless (or simple prefer corded), then this is a rock-solid choice.

--You are a gamer who doesn't need or want all of the extra buttons/software functionality, but like the rest of it's features and quality which make it a suitable performer for gaming. You tend to favor a lighter mouse. (If you're also in the market for a great pad or could use an upgrade, then the kit might be a good choice Turtle Beach Grip 300 Gaming Kit Including Optical Gaming Mouse and Medium Drift Mouse Pad for PC/Mac (TBS-4835-01)). It's also a very good first gaming mouse.

What I really LIKE THE MOST about this mouse:

>I really like the texture of this mouse. It has a rubbery feel and is an ultra flat matte black in color. It feels very sexy. I don't want to let go. It is dark, mysterious and minimalist. It has a nice shape.

>I love the awesome coolness of the braided cord. It's like a high-end audio cable. It even has a nice Velcro tie, which is good because It is also very long.

POTENTIAL NEGATIVES for Some Users:

-Hardcore gamers would consider it's Avado 3050 optical sensor as being an entry level sensor.
-Those with shorter thumbs may have to stretch a bit to press the forward thumb button (depending on you hand position).

I evaluated this software before giving it to a close friend of mine and I must admit Voyetra did a very good job at it.
Learning is done at a very gradual pace. You basically can start from scratch, learning how to read and play with one hand, the go on to two. This is done in three effective steps.
First, you learn the rhythm of the song or tune you want to play for the left hand. You just basically press any key with the left hand on the keyboard and master the rhythm. You do not need to play the tune. You just follow the metronome. You then switch to the right hand and redo the process again. Finally, you do it with two hands. At this stage, you do not learn the pitch, just the rhythm.
Second, you learn to play the tune (or pitch) of the left hand, but without bothering with the rhythm. This is done at your own pace. You just learn the notes. You then repeat this for the right hand, then both hands.
Third and last, once you have gone through the two previous steps, you now play the tune, again for the left hand only, this time following the rhythm. Then you continue on with the right. Then finally you are ready with two hands.
Basically, this gives a lesson of three steps (rhythm, pitch, rhythm + pitch), each done in three parts (left hand, right hand, both hands).
You can skip or repeat any of these steps as much as you want. You can also ask the software to do a demonstration for you of a particular step. The evaluation only takes into account your performance in the final step with both hands, and even here you can repeat the evaluation as much as you like (until you get a score of 100% every time; this is when you should stop bragging and go on!).

Considering that piano lessons were quote to me at 14 a 1/2 hour for a beginner, this is a real value. Excellent graphics and instruction. This is the best computer program on the market for learing piano, as you will see confirmed all over the web. Very good for the older beginner. By the way, if you are inept at software installation, get help,....

I started playing World of Warcraft again and kept losing my cursor during raids while using my wireless mouse. The Turtle Beach Grip 300 solved that issue and also tracks better than the wireless mouse (which tends to do its own thing at times).

I also like that this mouse doesn't have a lot of extra buttons. By default one of the side buttons triggers auto-run in WoW, which is useful, but I think too many buttons would be an unnecessary complication.

Beware!! You cant use this program if you have or upgrade to Windows XP! Voyettra website states that ther is no patch or download available. But, they do recommend spending the extra 29.00 to upgrade to the "Deluxe" version so that you can use it in XP. This is from their website... "If you're using Windows XP we would recommend upgrading to "Teach Me Piano Deluxe" on our website:" Very poor customer support. I guess Ill be buying software from another company from now on.

Style Name: Grip 500 Gaming Mouse Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
On first opening it, it did have a really great feel. However, the buttons are pretty much unconfigured out of the box and the profile/mode switch seemed awkwardly located on the bottom (unlike my logitech g700s). Once I downloaded the software (it not included in the box), it took a bit more trial and error than the Logitech software before I figured out how to set the macros just the way I liked them. It's also missing some common commands like a browser back button, so you must manually enter in either backspace or Alt+Left Arrow (which I prefer since it's less likely to erase text). But once you figure it out, the configuration software it seems to have even more options than other mice for illumination, timings, mouse dpi per axis (I find this useful when using multiple monitors) and more. The selectable color wheel per profile is by far the best thing about this mouse. I love to know if I'm in a game, browser or photoshop/lightroom mode just by looking at the wheel. I wish the back logo and headlights would match the color of the wheel... as it is I have turned them off on all expect my "red" profile. Once I got to using it though, it is very intuitive with all the buttons in the right place, only the furthest button on the side seems almost out of natural reach. I do wish there was at least one more button on the top surface (maybe two more), since I did have some trouble leaving off some macros that I'd like to have, and it is a comfortable area to reach for. And as for the profile button on the bottom, I've actually grown to appreciate it. I would sometimes hit the profile button on the logitech only because I forgot what mode I was in, but now that have the color as a guide I don't need to guess and can't hit it accidently now.Read more ›
