- Sounds very good for the price point
- The price
- Easy to set up and get using
- The mic works well and is clear
- The audio adjustment is very useful with easy mute switch
- Sometimes the mic picks up background noise
- Not the most comfortable to wear for long periods of time
- The wire is incredibly long and tangles very easily (even when wrapped up)
Overall, these headphones with a mic are unbeatable for the price point. Plus the "Bass Boost" is useful for some games.
It works great for the XBox as well. The husband will wear them while playing XBox Live with his friends. He appreciates that when he is speaking into the mouthpiece he can hear himself. The mouthpiece works great and picks up his voice. The cord has volume control on a little dial. This is extremely handy as different people talk in varying volumes. The husband can simply roll the dial instead of searching for a tv remote to turn the volume down when a XBox Live teammate gets too loud.
This headset is definitely worth the money. It is so much handier than a cordless headset because this one is always ready and available to use as we do not have to worry about batteries. The cord coming from the tv has not bothered us. Once my foot got caught on it and it just came unplugged from the tv, no damage to it at all. I recommend these for anyone who wants a reliable, quality headset for a reasonable price.
Pros: I think this set is well made. It feels like it's made of good quality materials and dare I say it? It even feels like the plastic is good solid plastic. There I said it. It's made of good plastic too! :)
The ear pieces can be adjusted to the length you want. Easy to adjust and they don't slip.
The mic is one of the coolest parts. You can adjust it however you choose and it stays in place. It also rotates at the ear to move it out of the way completely. Feels like it's made of good quality material. I also bought this mainly for the mic since I have to chat with the professor and other students during class. They can always hear me loud and clear. I can hear myself too which is a pretty cool feature. This way you know the mic is working.
I like that it can be used for PC, Mac, and Xbox 360. I feel I got more for my money. There is also a con to this which I'll mention in the cons.
The in-line amplifier is pretty nifty too! I like how you can adjust the bass, chat, and game volume separately to get just the right sound. I used this briefly on my Xbox 360 and didn't have the right equipment to get it working right (I only had sound in one ear) so I can't give a better review for this set being used for gaming.
The cables are nice and long so no extension cables are needed but at the same time this creates a con (see below)
Cons: The thing that bugs me the most is how many adapters I need to get this thing to do ANYTHING! I had to by the Syba SD-CM-UAUD USB Stereo Audio Adapter to get this connected to my Macbook Pro (Retina Early 2013). It only has two USB ports and they are on opposite sides of the computer so I had to buy a USB hub too. Why? Because once you connect the mic and headphone cables to the adapter, you now have two USB ports to plug in. And they both have to be plugged in! And the headphone cable isn't split long enough to plug in one USB on one side and plug in the other on the opposite side. AND it would eat up both USB ports for one device. Hence the reason I had to buy a hub. Fortunately I don't have to power the hub.
In addition to that, as I mentioned before, when I wanted to test this on my Xbox 360 I had to jimmy-rig it to get audio to work in just one ear. I have to buy yet another adapter to get this thing to work on the 360. So far that is an audio adapter, USB hub, and will soon be some adapter for the 360 to get this to do what it was advertised to do.
Not a huge pain but the length of the cable can be a con. It seems to get in the way all the time. Plus, all the extra plugs, and adapters just makes it messy. This isn't bad enough to remove any stars though. Just not ideal.
I didn't remove any stars for this because it could be related to my disfigured head and my hate for over the ear headphones (I am a fan of earbuds) but after a 3 hour long class my ears and head hurt. Right behind my ears it feels like there is some pressure and I am constantly adjusting it during class. Again, this might be my funny shaped head.
I didn't remove a star for this either, but I wish the mic could be removed completely from the set. I'd love to use this on long flights but I'd feel awkward with the mic sticking up. (Call me self-conscious I guess.)
Summary: If you have a PC and you're a gamer this thing will be fantastic out of the box. If you want to use this for your Macbook Pro Retina or Xbox 360, be prepared to fork out more money for extra little gadgets to get this thing to work right. Overall, I would recommend it, even with the cons because it's very likely this was not designed to be used the way I am using it but it still does great doing it.
