I’ve had a turtle beach headset for years. My last pair was turned into a chew toy for my dog. So I ordered these. At first they were fine. But now every time I want to use my headset I have to unplug everything from the adapter then the cord to the controller and then plug things in one by one In order to talk to anyone.

These are crap. They used to not work some of the time and now they don’t work all of the time.
While in game the mic and headset will just stop working. So then I have to do my magic trick ....unplug the adapter unplug the cord. Then plug in the adapter and then the cord and I’m back in business for about 40 minutes.

I don’t know if they have better quality since I purchased these but this is pure crap and I won’t even attempt to order off amazon again. One star because you can’t give negative stars!

Durable, good quality, a bit uncomfortable

The first thing to know is that I am rough on headphones. I am a college student, and play xbox for a few hours every night. These headphones have been with me for months and i would be more than happy to buy another set if they broke today. They travel well, and have made multiple trips back and forth between home and school, packed in a backpack without space for the original box. I can clearly hear game sounds i have never heard before, and i have been told my voice sounds very clear in party chat. My only complaint is that they are a little uncomfortable on my ears, though they have padding, adjustable sizes, and the microphone can be positioned or bent as needed. Overall, i am so pleased with these headphones that I am still willing to rate 5 stars despite the slight discomfort.

Tldr; durable, great audio and mic quality, can travel, last for months. It also comes with an adapter that you can detach to use the headphones in a regular jack, or with the xbox controllers that do not come with the jack.

Vs. Microsoft Stereo Headset

So I had previously bought the Microsoft Stereo Headset before I purchased this. The problem with those were, even though they were nice heavy construction, they were so sound isolating, that I couldn't hear my wife ask me a question, even sitting right next to me, and more important, couldn't hear myself speaking. Friends constantly asked me to repeat myself or speak up. I couldn't take them anymore. Fast forward to Prime Day and I got these with the extra savings from Warehouse Deals, and with the Amazon credits I had saved from using the Rewards Credit card, got these for little over $20. They are a little flimsier or cheaper feeling than the official Microsoft pair, but the technology is far superior. Mic monitoring alone makes these the go-to pair. But the bass boost, the lighter construction and foam ear cups make it so I can hear myself speaking, and hear other people in the room also. A huge plus. The other problem with the MS headset was the microphone only swung so close to your mouth, and only ever on the side of it. This sets mic is very flexible and stays in place. I can put it right in front of my mouth if I need to whisper, or further if I want to have a normal level conversation.

Overall, if you can get this set for the same price of the MS set, or on a sale, go for it. I wouldn't purchase it at full price, just for the way they're constructed (a little flimsy), but in a deal, or on sale, this set is a certified win.

Best Bang for Your Buck

Excellent starter headset, but leaps and bounds ahead of the stock Xbox One headset. Turtle Beach has always made top of the line game and chat headset, and some can cost upwards of $200. For under $50, the Ear Force XO One definitely does not under perform. The main gripe I have with this headset is the microphone. It's sensitivity is off balance. My friends will say they can't hear me, and the next moment I'm really loud. I do not move the microphone around. I bought this off a friend's recommendation, and it wasn't until after the fact that I remembered him having the same issued. I do love how comfortable the headset is. I've had a lot of headset that would hurt the edges of my ears after only an hour of play time. I haven't had that issue here yet, and the pad under the top is a nice touch. The controller to audio jack converter that comes with the headset is nice for quick volume controls, and you can use it to change the game and voice chat separately. There is also a button for mute and power to the headset. However, the buttons for the volume controls aren't that defined in where they're at under the rubber surface.

Pros:
- Best bang for your buck
- Sound quality is great
- Nice bass
- Fits comfortably on the ears.
- Solid build

Cons:
- Mic is permanently attached to left ear, can't rotate or switch to right ear.
- Mic isn't consistently reliable with it's sensitivity
- Volume button's aren't clearly defined in their location

Tip: If the converter that plugs in to the bottom of your controller seems a little difficult to pull off, it's because it hooks into an indentation on the back of the controller. Lift up the end of the converter on the back of the controller and just slide it off.

I was looking for a headset that would work with the older controllers without the 3.5mm Jack and that had mic monitoring so I could hear myself. These fit the bill perfectly.
-They come with an adapter
-Mic Monitoring
-Comfortable
-Detachable microphone

They also have a cool chat mixer on the adapter to adjust sound for game play and chat.
All in all this is exactly what I wanted at a very reasonable price.

UPDATE: Ive decided to update this review from 5 stars to 3. After a couple months of use the right earphone cuts in and out. I thought maybe it was the adapter. Replaced adapter, still there. Thought it was controller. Updated controller to new gen without adapter. Still there. They still work but I have to wiggle the jack to get the one headphone to work again. Might have to look for new headset.

This is the 2nd headset i have bought, the first was for my son, i liked it so much i bought one for me.
The headset is a jack headset, and come with an adapter that connects the headset to the controller, effectively giving you a wireless experience (although the headset is actually wired to the controller) the volume and chat levels can be changed, and you can hear your own voice.

The audio is very clear and has an immersive surround sound, the mic can be removed and is very flexible, l dont need to remove it when not using it as it can be pushed out of the way.

I like the quality of it, it seems to very sturdy but comfortable.

For the price that includes an adapter for your controller, and you are looking for a good quality headset then this is the one for you.

I needed a pair of headphones which had mic feedback to reduce the shouting to keep the baby and wife happy. So far im pretty happy with my purchase.

Positives

1, Seem pretty well made and confortable to wear for long periods
2, The cups fold flat for easier storage
3, The mic feedback does reduce me being so loud
3, Short cable. I know some don't like this but for me its ideal. I haven't pulled it our by accident and it stops miles of cable for storage.
4, Decent amount of volume and can balance pretty well between game and chat

Negatives

1, Seem to have too much bass for me even without bass boost on ( I like lost of bass too)
2, The mic needs a pop shield as it pics up too much breathing noise unless you find the sweet spot angle
3, Its bloody hard to remove the volume control panel out of pad once its in.
4, They refuse to work if you are charging your pad at the same time....very annoying as the pads don't give much warning before going flat

overall I am happy with my purchase. Time will tell if the quality is there long term. I have had Turtle beach before on my xbox 360 and they lasted a good few years so I am hopeful. I switched to the Microsoft Xbox stereo headset for xbox one and have been through two in under a year as the mic went on both and the headband cracked on one.

I have had this headset for quite a while now, and honestly its brilliant for gaming

It can be a little heavy on the bass but in general its great for directional hearing and the mic is also very clear. The attachment for the old xbox controller is great as it allow you to tailor what you hear (Game vs chat) so if someone is annoying on chat, you can quickly phase them out. Volume is very loud and the built in controls are super easy to use.

It is pretty hard wearing too (I keep it in a TV stand drawer) and I haven't had any issues with damage etc.

The only thing I will say is a negative, is it uses quite a lot of battery. I have ran tests with the headset connected, and not connected and the batteries on the controller runs out about 30% quicker with the headset attached. Not a huge deal but needs to be mentioned.

I would highly recommend this. Despite the fact I bought it cheaper than it is now, I would probably still pay the asking price!

For the price these headsets are well worth it.

I find these headsets really handy for playing games quietly so as not to make noise for neighbours or housemates. The stereo gaming makes it really handy to hear other players and separate music in games. They are particularly good when playing FPS'.

I have two issues with them: One is that the wire is a little bit short, if you wave your arms in frustration when losing a game or being repeatedly killed in Dark Souls you will slowly stretch the line, I bought a pair which I have abused in this manner and they have lasted about 18 months. For the price they're good. The other is that the balance between music and speech can be a little biased in favour of music, if you are trying to chat whilst playing a loud musical or explodey game you may be unable to hear the persons you are chatting to. Battlefield is particularly bad for this.

For the Price though I would definitely rate them and I will buy another pair.

A headset punching way above it's weight for the cost.

I bought these as I already have the Turtle Beach PX4's, but have two consoles and was finding it a bore to reconfigure the microphone and settings each time I switched on (I won't bore you with the details).

I'm 5 days in, and here are my thoughts so far:

Pro's
- Adaptor included that lets you control volume, party chat mix, mute and "bass boost". This sells for £15 seperately, so a good deal right there.
- Sound is perfectly acceptable. Not immersive, but clear and crisp. I couldn't fault it at low or high frequencies. Bass boost is a nice addition but it's not going to knock your socks off!
- Feedback from microphone back to headset so you know how loud you're talking.
- Detachable mic, meaning you could potentially use for listening to music (for instance).
- Bendy mic! I much prefer these to the rock-solid ones you get on cheaper alternatives. It allows you to position as you require.
- Works fine on PS4 (but see the con below).

Con's
- It sat "on" my ears rather than over them, meaning they started to feel sore after an hour or so.
- The microphone doesn't have a swivel, so you can't easily discard it without pulling it out altogether. As I mentioned, you can detach it. But knowing me, it wouldn't be long before it was lost if I did that!
- On PS4 there is no microphone feedback, and you have to adjust the volume via settings deep within the PS menus. Seeing as this is advertised as an Xbox One headset, I have no real complaints here. I also suspect there's an inline adaptor I can use to control this if I get desperate!

In terms of value for money, I would be amazed if you could find anything better for Xbox One. They're not amazing from either a sound or comfort perspective, but what do you expect for £30? I'd definitely they are a cut above the plastic cheap beasts with glowing lights you see all over Amazon.
