Unique Slotted Ear Cup Design
Allows sound to come in the ear that's covered, so you can comfortably hear what's going on around you as you chat.
Chat on Anything
Go from being a console player on PS4 to a PC or Mac gamer to chatting on your phone, tablet or mobile gaming device and back again thanks to the plug-and-play design.
Hear What You Want, When You Want

I purchased this headset for myself when I got a PS4. It was time for an upgrade since I was still using my old PS2 SOCOM headset and the one PS4 ships with isn't anything worth talking about. I think I paid around $25 from Walmart for it.
It plugs into the PS4 dualshock controller and fits pretty securely on my head. The one side extends to fit you well but the other side doesn't move. I would have given this 5 stars if both sides adjusted in and out in length to make the fit feel most comfortable. That being said, it isn't a deal breaker at all. The headset itself still produces quality audio output for chat communications.
I opted out of the higher end Turtle Beach alternatives because I have 5.1 surround sound and didn't want to replace that with surround sound headphones. This allows me to still enjoy the 5.1 experience while using the headset for chat coms only.
I would recommend it to anyone who is on a budget and wants a comfortable headset to listen to chat communications. It's much better than the PS4 headset (earbud - singular).
I hope you found this review helpful! Thanks for reading.
I changed my settings and still couldn't hardly hear any of my chat party. By luck, while sliding the mic mute switch, I noticed a huge spike in volume. After playing with it, I figured out that with constant pressure on the mic mute switch in either position, it establishes a better connection and the volume level hits a normal-sounding range to use the volume dial with. Since it put a cramp in my playing style to use one hand to constantly press on the mic mute slider, I grabbed a binder clip and put it into place over the switch, which provided enough pressure to maintain volume. I'm not an engineer, but if I was hazarding a guess, the in-line volume control / mic mute switch assembly housing feels "puffy" for lack of a better term, and I wonder if some shipments were exposed to extreme conditions in transit and the housing warped, separating some of the connections in it. I doubt the mic mute switch connection has anything to do with the volume issue - more likely, there's a separate connection involving the speaker sound that's getting smashed together between the back of the slider switch and the inside wall of the housing once pressure is applied.
Not exactly the best looking solution, but hey, it works. If you have this headset and are experiencing the volume problem, give this a try and maybe you can get some of your value out of it.Read more ›
Now, about its being not "just for chat"... apparently some people aren't aware that within the PS4 settings menu you can tell it to send chat only or all game sounds. Its always worked this way. Just go to the settings and look in devices for the audio devices settings (hope I remember that correctly). Its very easy to switch that and set your mic and sound levels too.
The enclosed instructions were simple, but they were also vital. I would have spent a lot of time searching the PS4 box itself for an input port if the instructions had not shown that it plugs into the controller.
The quality is sufficient for play. You have to adjust some of the settings on the PS4 to get all the sound to go into the headphones. The default is to stream music and ambient sounds out of the speakers/monitors and just have battle chat go through the speakers. (That actually makes sense, but it was not obvious at first.)
Yes, you're not getting a high-fidelity experience, but you're not paying for one either.
All in all, a good price for something quite useful for the serious PS4 player, and it is a good first step for the player who goes through five earbud sets in a three month period. (You know who you are.) :-D
