The recon 200 have hit on many levels. The always on bass boost is an experience like you have never had, which of course is not going to be for everyone.
In games like H1Z1 and CODS Blackout beta, I am able to get the drop on people thanks to the amplified sound. Since we're talking about the sound, yes the controller of the PS4 is plenty loud for these (most likely thanks to the amp built in) if you're tired of weak volume from the controller and don't want to purchase a separate amp, this could very well be the one you want to try.
User guide says 12 hours per charge ( since they're amplified they do need charged) and I have to see yet if that will hold up.
If you need a longer go then that, consider the stealth 300. Mic has been great so far as well, swivel to mute is such a clutch feature!
It's definitely not an "audiophile" headphone but for a gaming headset with crisp audio, bass you can feel and comfort for hours? Turtle Beach hit a home run on this one!
In my 50 years on the planet, I've played many other gaming systems, both handheld, and consoles. Nintendo, Sega, Playstation, Xbox and anything else I could find.
I've also used 20+ headsets for various applications with half of them having a microphone integrated into them. Sony, Apple, Bose, Creative Sound Blaster and others. It has been years though since I've used Turtle Beach branded headphones.
I bought an XBox One system last holiday season as a bundle which included Xbox Gold membership. I also scored a deal on a 1-year subscription to EA Sports' membership. Currently, I'm obsessed with MUT 18.

☆ The Review ☆
I charged the Turtle Beach Recon 200 Amplified Gaming Headset for about 3.5 hours via the included cable (to USB) from a dead battery on arrival. I then connected the headphones to the 3.5mm port on the bottom of my Xbox wireless controller.
I turned the power on the headphones with the sliding switch and a green light lit up indicating it was powered up. I made sure the sliders for both the volume on the mic and the overall volume were set to low before switching to Xbox input. NOTE: There's also an input for PS4.
👍 This is what I liked about the Recon 200's...
➤ The build quality is good.
➤ The 40mm over-ear speakers offered more than enough power for my ears without distortion. The amplified audio can be adjusted both on the headphones via the volume control and within specific settings on your system.
➤ They are compatible with Xbox One, PS4 & PS4 Pro, and works with Nintendo Switch, PCs and Mobile (tablets & smartphones) with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
➤ A solid performer and not super-expensive.
➤ While not 'noise-canceling' they certainly seemed to block out the external noise in my house with very little bleed out for others to hear in the room. This was great when I was watching an action flick on Netflix at 1 am and not wanting to wake my family, but still wanting to hear the 'booms' in the film!
➤ The high-sensitivity microphone worked great - super clear - with volume control easy to use, and the feature that allows you to flip it up to mute it works as expected. Being able to easily adjust the mic volume and hear your own voice worked well. No shouting!
➤ The earcups covered my ears and were not uncomfortable for short-term wear of under 1 hour.
➤ Cable length of about 4' is good with the controller.
➤ Independently powered of the controller, the headphone battery seems to have about a 10-12 hour charge life.
➤ Volume controls for both overall and mic adjustments are simple to use.
➤ Included Quick Start Guide is easy to follow and Turtle Beach support info is clearly placed in the packaging.
➤ 1 year warranty from the date of purchase to cover defects if found.
🧐 What I wish was better about this product...
♦︎ Earphone comfort was good at first, but my ears became sore after about 1 hour of use. Maybe I or the earphones will adjust (soften) with extended use? I hope so!
♦︎ The support info for the Recon 200's is not yet on the Turtle Beach website. i went there looking to see how to adjust the volume via Xbox settings and found it, but under another model.
♦︎ I have a fairly large head and these headphones fit me without pinching. Some big guys might find them too tight though despite the metal-reinforced headband being adjustable.
♦︎ While the bass output seemed good there's no adjustment for a refinement of 'bass boost' on these phones. Some devices will allow for adjusting the bass (iPhones for example) in their settings, however.
☆ Conclusion ☆
I like the Recon 200's a lot. And I think for a gamer on a budget they are a great choice.
Whether you want an immersive entertainment experience or want to chat with players at a LAN party these wired headphones are a good deal.
🛠 Audio Adjustments May Be Needed 🛠
When first using these headphones you may notice the volume level is way too low, even on the highest setting on the phones.
On your game system or PC, there are 'headphone' or 'audio' specific settings that may need adjustment for these headphones to provide you with the volume you seek.
Once my Xbox's audio settings were adjusted to the max for the headphones I actually had to turn down the max volume on my headset as it was too loud for me.
2. Imagine the most uncool version of you - that's how you look when you put these headsets on your head. They look reaaaaaaly weird on your head.
3. Tried to use the USB cable, for some reason it does not work. I have other headsets that work just fine with the USB cable as soon as I plug them in my laptop.
4. Other than that, everything seems to work. However, had I known the 1., 2. and 3. points above, I would never buy these headsets. Ever.
5. I have to buy other headsets now, headsets that I can actually use. Have no idea what I'll do with these ones. Return ?

Sound : Very good, but the gunshots in Destiny 2 seem tinny compared to my old headset (Turtle Beach XO One Amplified Stereo Gaming Headset).
Comfort: 4/5 - since after a while, you'll need to take them off if only to give your ears some relief from the tight fit (that really muffles exterior noises eg the wifey/TV blah, blah, blah, :D).
A word of warning, you cannot connect this directly to the XB1 controller without the audio connector (* purchase separately *).
