The headset itself is comfortable; The cushioning isn't rough like some other headsets. I found myself gaming for 2-3 hours at a time with no intrusion from the ear piece.
The biggest downside to this system is its bulkiness. The console and its wiring takes up quite a bit of space with both the console cord and headset cord being overly long. If you are very limited on space, or do not want to see an excess of cords protruding from your computer, then you may want to look into other options.
Also, the other downside here is one that plagues all mid-priced headsets: The plastic frame that holds it all together. If you're a gamer, or use headsets extensively, you know exactly what I'm talking about, and the PX22 is not immune to this type of damage either. I've personally put in 8 months of heavy use on my set of PX22's before the plastic frame snapped. I then ductaped it and had another 2 months of use before the sound started going out. With that said, ~10 months of heavy gaming/music use before I had to ditch it is A+ in my book, especially considering that you get excellent sound and sound control with this package.
Bottom line: I'm on to my 2nd PX22 now, and after 20 years of gaming, I have never once re-ordered the same headset. I highly recommend.
First, I couldn't stand feeling like I was tethered to the PS4, this may not be an issue for everyone. I move around a lot, and I feel like I was on a leash.
You can opt to plug the headset into your controller, but then you lose access to the audio controls (part of what makes this set great) and the ability to mute. Seriously, people, you need mute! No one wants to hear your conversation with your partner, children, dog, cat, what have you or you music which sounds awful through your mic blasting into area chat. Use your mute!
My second reason for returning was the control box itself. It's about 3 feet down the cable, which is great, but it also big. I have no idea where I was supposed to clip it for easy access. Even when I managed to successfully place it in my lap, it was a problem. It is FAR too easy to accidently turn the wheels for the audio controls. If I had kept I probably would have placed tap over the treble and bass controls, but I needed to be able to adjust the volume of the game and chat regularly.
The sound is great for the price if you don't mind the look of cables coming out of your Playstation & being tethered to it, and you can find a solution for the wheels on the controller this is a good choice for a PS4 gaming set.
Very versatile amplifier
Little to no audio related bugs such as Astro A40.
The plastic cheap trash. They broke within 3 months.
This is my second pair so yes I have a fair amount of experience. When I bought my first pair, I didn't really use it very often so it lasted for 9-10 months but when I started using it more and more on my PS3 it started to break on both sides and the audio started to get choppy or didn't work at all. I only used my headphones on my PS3. They were constantly plugged in and didn't even more than 5 feet from it's general area. I put them on and took them off when I was finished and started using them for 5-15 hours per day depending on the day. Never once dropped, never once thrown or abused in anyway because I LOVED them. When my first pair broke I was heartbroken and immediately reordered a new one and guess what? That one broke pretty soon after. I thought the reviews of them breaking were just bad luck for people til it happened to me. Heed our warnings or you'll regret it!!
Hardware-wise, the internals of this headset is remarkable (especially for the price) but the external is complete crap. If you want a figure piece that you'll never use and will last if not used then these are the headphones for you, if not then continue your search for a new pair of headphones.
