It follows Twell, a young girl who was orphaned as an infant. Twell lives on Como and has special powers that their governing body says can help their world against attack. So Twell and some other gifted teens start training in preparation for joining Como's army.
The book has a bit of everything. A bit of young love, suspense, action, and a small cliffhanger, which is okay since book two is out.
Looking forward to getting stuck into book two now.
I felt like O'Leary did a good job of world building; and the story, as well as the emotions and questioning Twell journeys through were believable. The relationships with friends/frenemies really engaged me, and I am looking forward to seeing what is ahead for Twell and the others.
This book is one of the best YA I’ve read so far this year, it kept me on edge and I just finished screaming for more. Kate O’Leary is an amazing writer, you just devour the book and I’m more than looking forward to the next one. Please let it be soon!
Twill lives in Coma a new world and has neglected her telekinetic powers as she just wants to be normal. But life was not normal for Twil,l she will be genetically partnered with a boy by her next birthday that she does not know or even love. This seems all wrong for her as she does love someone.. her best friend and who is in love with her enemy which has left her heartbroken and looking for what to do next. Twill and some fellow class mates are given an opportunity to develop their powers to help Coma. They soon realize their gifts are going to be used as a weapon.
The description the author uses has your imagination picturing this new word and the twist and turns will keep you wanting more. Twill is a girl with determination, she faces the unknown and fights for her country and for her life. This fantasy story has a bit of everything that will keep you totally entertain and wanted more at the end. Lucky as this is just book 1 and you have 2 more to read. I recommend this great book. This is my honest review of this book that I have voluntarily decided to review.
