The book is broken up into chapters’ by the six different characters’ thoughts and perspectives. I tend to like novels that do this, so you can view the plot(s) from many angles, but I know others who do not appreciate when an author does this, but I can assure you that this author does it well. It’s very clear both by tone and chapter titles who is speaking. Each character has something interesting and likable about them. I’ve read plenty of novels set-up in this manner where there is always one or two characters whose chapters I want to race through to get back to the better ones, but I did not feel this way here. Additionally, two of the main characters are boys and the author switches between the two genders effortlessly.
Overall, if you’re feeling nostalgic for college or a lost era in your life where you wish things had gone differently, this story is peppered with loads of typical life-lessons, quips, and a few new positive mantras. It is written well and is a breeze to get through. I highly recommend it for your summer reading list.
