Yet another "Remastered," extended James Bond soundtrack from Capital/EMI/MGM, John Barry's score for "You Only Live Twice" seems to have been given a second life. Long considered one of the best of Barry's efforts in the 007 saga, "You Only Live Twice" can now be appreciated in a recording that includes nearly the entire score. Barry successfully combined lyrical, oriental, and action motifs for a solid score which should be ranked in the top four of all of the Bond soundtracks. This recording includes a good deal of the score that could not be included in the LP soundtrack in seven "bonus tracks" and some additional music to the standard cuts. This is easily one of the best of the "remastered" collection and is a must for Bond and Barry fans. Finally, one is able to fully enjoy one of Barry's best works. An extended cut, "James Bond in Japan" alone makes this whole 40th Anniversary venture worthwhile. Again, the recording is first rate, as is the packaging. And thanks again for the reasonable price! As one of the attempts at resurrecting the full scores from many of the Bond films, "You Only Live Twice" again confirms just how vital John Barry was to the entire 007 series.

"Nobody does it better..."
This quote has been attributed to Bond before but it certainly applies to the fantastic scoring of maestro John Barry. In the fifth installment of the series, Bond heads to Japan to track down a global terrorist plot and Barry's score takes us along for the ride! From Nancy Sinatra's vocals on the opening song to the mysterious motifs used to describe the space capsule plot and "Tanaka's Plot", this score has it all! Plus, the familiar "007 theme" is given a new twist for the aerial fight with Little Nellie! Even Aki's theme, surprisingly simple in its instrumentation, is moving as only Barry could deliver.
Note: this is an expanded edition over other releases and contains several exclusive tracks. If you're a long-time fan of the Bond scores you'll want to snag this edition in order to listen to as much of Barry's score as possible!

James Bond and John Barry shared the same initials. They also shared many adventures and this is one of Barry's most influential, inventive scores. Lyrical, haunting and with a memorable title tune sung by Nancy Sinatra... this is premiere John Barry. The presentation with bonus tracks is excellent. The "Little Nell" cue is one of many listening experiences to be enjoyed time and time again.

There was some good tracks on the C D . but as always there is a lot of Music that is just filler music that the composer has
to come up with for the movie .. It's a shame that a composer has to do this , a waist of a lot of taliant ..

. . . . the other being, without question, Thunderball. The remastered versions are superb and entirely immersive! John Barry peaked with these two soundtracks. Highly recommended.

Ausserdem genial, Fight at Kobe Dock, Mountains and Sunsets und natürlich Nancy Sinatra's Titellied.
Genial!
