About the authors

Stephenie Meyer's life changed dramatically on June 2, 2003. The stay-at-home mother of three young sons woke-up from a dream featuring seemingly real characters that she could not get out of her head. "Though I had a million things to do (i.e. making breakfast for hungry children, dressing and changing the diapers of said children, finding the swimsuits that no one ever puts away in the right place), I stayed in bed, thinking about the dream. Unwillingly, I eventually got up and did the immediate necessities, and then put everything that I possibly could on the back burner and sat down at the computer to write--something I hadn't done in so long that I wondered why I was bothering." Meyer invented the plot during the day through swim lessons and potty training, then writing it out late at night when the house was quiet. Three months later she finished her first novel, Twilight.
Twilight was one of 2005's most talked about novels and within weeks of its release the book debuted at #5 on The New York Times bestseller list.Among its many accolades, Twilight was named an "ALA Top Ten Books for Young Adults," an Amazon.com "Best Book of the Decade&So Far", and a Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year. The movie version of Twilight will be released by Summit Entertainment nationwide on November 21, 2008, starring Kristen Stewart ("Into The Wild") and Robert Pattinson ("Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire").
The highly-anticipated sequel, New Moon, was released in September 2006 and spent 31 weeks at the #1 position on The New York Times bestseller list. Eclipse, the third book in Meyer's Twilight saga, was released on August 7, 2007 and sold 150,000 copies its first day on-sale. The book debuted at #1 bestseller lists across the country, including USA Today and The Wall Street Journal. The fourth and final book in the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn, was published on August 2, 2008, with a first printing of 3.2 million copies - the largest first printing in the publisher's history. Breaking Dawn sold 1.3 million copies its first day on-sale rocketing the title to #1 on bestseller lists nationwide.
Meyer's highly-anticipated debut for novel adults, The Host, was released by Little, Brown and Company in May 2008 and debuted at #1 on The New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists.

This graphic novel brought the characters to life as I believe Stephenie must visualize them, with so much involvement from her in its writing. That's why I am so enthralled; the dialogue was accurate, the characters' facial expressions so much more telling. I agree that the novel depicts the vampire beauty in a far more ethereal way than mere mortal actors can possibly do. I do love the actors, but if they could only make a movie as emotionally expressive as this graphic novel!
I love graphic novels for just that. The illustrations bring a story to life for me focusing as they do on the varied facial expressions. These are lovely, with all of the anticipated accuracies that movie characters cannot give. Bella was different than I imagined, but as I read the face became hers in my mind. She makes more sense to me now. A bit more color would probably help some in that way but the novel was fine just as is for me.
Edward, oh, well - he is perfect. In characterization, features and personality. Alice and Jasper as well. I never could picture Rosalie and Emmett after the movie because neither fit at all, but in this novel they work for me. I'm hoping they will be fleshed out more in the next novel installment just as their parts increased in the book.
Little things please me. For some reason, choices for Edward's clothing in the movies bug me. They just don't fit his image. Here they are more than satisfyingly casual-elegant - particularly the jacket. Why that bothers me so much I can't say other than that I loved the image of the buttery soft leather jacket in the restaurant scene.
I'm happy with the story line, as it follows the thread as well as an illustrated novel possibly could without rivaling the length of the original books. I can't wait for the other novels(#?), and I too hope that all 4 books will be done. Difficult as I can see that would be, consuming perhaps years of work, but very, very worth it. Color me satisfied and happy with that idea - and especially with this first novel. Kudos to Steph & Young Kim (whose career was just catapulted into the 'verse).
Reading it again now since I couldn't wait to write my review.
I hate to disagree with all the Pattinson fans out there but he just isn't a vampire. Good looking though he may be he is no Edward either and sorry, but he really can't pass for seventeen, he looks too filled out to be so young. In this amazingly rendered graphic novel we get a taste of our own Edward and not "the best humans can do" (I actually think we could have done better) that the movies ended up with.
I adore the first three books and hope very much that the rest of those three stories get put in picture form (by this author/artist) as well. The forth book though, I hope no one does in picture or film. I for one don't want the romance and beauty of Edward's and Bella's relationship screwed up by watching Edward bite open Bella's guts... with his freaking mouth!... to get out a baby that would have been more believably created by a daffodil and a pine tree rather than by a human and a (stone like) vampire. At least the daffodil and tree are both plants but a vampire isn't even alive! And, duh! male vampires can't make sperm, you have to "change" and build up to do that! They make venom. Sorry, getting off subject.
I really can't wait to see what else this talented artist can do for this story. Put simply I'll buy all the books she comes out with within the first three books! I wouldn't mind seeing some other books done this way as well. It really brings back the feelings I had when I first read the stories. It felt so good to be urging the characters on once more and sharing the same feelings and wondering what I would do in the same situations. Long live Veggi Vampires! And I can't wait to see the Wolves!! Must say, super hot Jacob too! I hope she practices a lot, I really love wolves as well as vampires!
Waiting with bated breath,
Raven

For all the Twihards out there, what could be a greater pleasure than seeing your favourite characters come to life in this beautiful illustrated version of the novel. The style of the storytelling is similar to a comic book and therefore lacks the coverage of complete content from the novel. Also, the book is divided in two volumes with the price of each slightly greater than the one you'd expect.
About the product:
The product I received was of average quality with the cover of the book scratched and faded. It kind of gave it an old book look. Also, to make the matters worse, the pages of the book were mostly stuck together with me putting an effort to get them carefully parted.
All of this made me question the price I'd paid for the purchase.
Product delivery was on time with all safety standards met aptly.
But the quality of the product received made me take away two necessary stars from my rating. So, overall a three-star purchase.
