When it's on sale, it's well worth it!
What a bargain! I had all of this on DVD (5 separate units: Pilot, 1st Season set, 2nd Season set, Fire Walk with Me, and The Return set) so I was glad to tidy up my movie shelf with this complete set. And, of course, the upgrade to Blu-ray was certainly worth it as well. The dark scenes look much better in this higher resolution. Plenty of extras included, although none of the commentaries from the old 1st Season set are here; but we do have the Log Lady intros and the Missing Pieces (which I didn't have). I like the 1st/2nd Season menus as well, it's interesting to watch the compilation clips. It was tempting to drop a star for the horrible packaging, but it's the contents that count. The spindles truly are capable of damaging the discs, as they are very stiff and half of them don't have a tab to squeeze for release. At the very least, one has to bend the disc up, slide the fingers under it and slowly twist it out. If one chooses to keep the discs in this horrible case, I would recommended taking a worthless disc, such as a Marvel superhero movie, and placing it on top of the valuable Twin Peaks disc during the removal operation...this will provide support and hopefully keep it from snapping in half. Not wanting to spend another $50 on new cases which wouldn't keep the set all together as I prefered, I just took a Mill Creek case that I already had and used it. It was one of those "50 movies for ten bucks" plastic cases. I moved those discs out and inserted the Twin Peaks discs; the disc envelopes were already there and the cover insert fit in too. Problem solved. Included is a photo showing the the result.

    I had read a number of complaints about the packaging of the DVDs before I ordered this set. Apparently so had the seller as the set I received arrived in perfect condition. Inside the case were plastic "pages" each having 2 spindles on each side. Each spindle was designed to hold 2 dvds. I had read one complaint about there being 3 discs forced onto a spindle creating the risk of the dvd breaking. I did not experience this on the set I received. There were more than enough spindles to hold the discs with only 2 to a spindle. The pilot is also included on Disc 1 of the standard Blu-ray version which is great as the additional ultra hd disc with the pilot would not play in my DVD player. Each disc also had the episodes printed on the label. This case is no different from other DVD sets that I have purchased in the past.

    Awesome collection! Great packaging, regardless of what other reviews say. It's typical stacked, but with disk separators in the pack that click the discs into place and is nicely organized. Love all of the extras. The focus of content is the 2 original seasons, the "limited release" 3rd season, and the film Fire Walk With Me. So, everything Twin Peaks is included here. Great collection!!

    The media could not be loaded.
    Twin Peaks is one of the all time greatest television/film series, so I was very excited to pre-order the re-release of the “From Z to A” collection. I was very disappointed with the packaging, as when I had pre-ordered, many of the photos in the product paged advertised showed a beautiful set in cardboard/textured material, with all discs packaged in paper sleeves themed to the Black Lodge, as well as several glossy photo prints and a cutout of Laura Palmer and Dale Cooper together. However, this re-release came in a very thin, cheap plastic case where many of the discs are stacked directly on top of each-other flimsily and not well protected, and included no photos, paper sleeves, or the character cut out, which were all noted that they would be included in the item description at the time I made the purchase. In fact, several of the discs were “popped out” and loose in the case when I initially opened it with minor scratches. This product was falsely advertised when posted on Amazon, however the content on the discs are amazing and it is still worth a purchase to be able to own all 3 seasons and the movie. Just be weary of purchasing if you are looking for the nice packaging the original “from Z to A” collection came in.

    This is probably the definitive Twin Peaks collection with regard to filmed media. The headline of my review answers the main question that I had prior to preordering the set, as it did not specify in the description. While I have yet to explore all 21 discs, it does include all 3 seasons, separate 4k discs for the (I believe European version) pilot and ep8 of The Return, FWWM, Missing Pieces, and tons of interviews and behind the scenes footage. I literally cradled this box set as I slept the first night I got it as if it were my mother's sister's girl's blue stuffed teddy bear. Yeah, I sound like a shill, but as a TP superfan, I'd have paid twice as much as I did for this set (now I can cancel a streaming service with this set of discs!). Treat yo'self!

    Okay, let's get it out of the way: the show is really good and I love it which is why I bought this when I could. Now, let's get into a REALLY big problem with the order. I saw all the time online that this set had really bad packaging, which of course, it's an Amazon order of a really big multi disc set, the case is gonna crack and the disc packaging might be broken. I expected that so I ordered a CD case too. What I did NOT expect was the disc packaging to be STRONGER THAN HERCULES and even HE couldn't get it out without CRACKING THE DISC IN HALF! That's what it feels like to take A DISC OUT to me. WHY?! WHY?!? WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT JUST TO TAKE A DISC OUT, MY THUMB GETS CIRCULAR DENTS JUST TRYING TO PRESS ON THE PACKAGING SO IT CAN SNAP LOOSE?!? IT'S ALMOST IT WAS DONE INTENTIONALLY!! GET THIS SET IF YOU WANT, JUST PLEASE KNOW WHAT YOU'RE IN FOR AND PREPARE ACCORDINGLY BY GETTING A REPLACEMENT CASE LIKE I DID!!! THIS PACKAGING CAN GO STRAIGHT TO HELL!!!

    I ordered this from the UK, for delivery in the US, because of better pricing (at the time that I ordered it). (Both the US and UK version are region-free.) I was slightly worried about the international shipping, especially with so many reports of mangled packaging, resulting in internal damaging, but I figured I could return it if that was a problem. (And those problems were being reported on “in country” shipments!) The terse assessment, of what I received, is that it contained a well packaged/protected interior box, with all the piece-parts depicted in the product pictures, totally undamaged. I don’t doubt the reports, by others, of damaged contents, but I had none of that with my shipment. When I removed the media from their original slipcases, I found all of the discs to be pristine, with no indication of any damage.

    I’ve kept the original packaging (with its extra knick-knacks), but it’s impractical to keep the media in their original cardboard slipcases. (It’s more likely that doing so will increase the likelihood of eventually scratching one of the discs, and it would be a royal pain to continuously remove them from, and restore them to, their original cardboard slipcases.) I highly recommend grabbing three of the Viva Elite Blu-Ray cases (e.g. the ones that hold 7 discs), and migrating all 21 discs into those cases. They will then be far easier to store with your other media, and will be well protected (and, obviously, far easier to pop-out and play).

    As to the media content, I think that the blu-rays look great. The single 4K disc is “OK”, but not quite what I expected. It is simply a 4K rendering of the two episodes indicted, but includes no HDR grading, so the color gamut is no different from that available in the standard 2K media. However, the 4K presentation does appear to have had its color grading modified, e.g. I found the pilot episode to be less bright, and the colors (as seen in the 2K version) to have been toned down a bit (i.e. less vibrant). Essentially, modified to give the episode a “darker feel”, which I assumed to have been the intent, considering that the subject matter is, itself, quite dark. I don’t mean to imply that this was advertised to be an HDR rendering, but I also hadn’t really noticed anything pointing out that it wasn’t. I’m OK with the result, but this is just an FYI for anyone who might be assuming that it is an HDR presentation.

    It is worth noting that the expense (obviously) relates directly to the 21-disc size of this package. But it’s also worth noting that they could have released this with far fewer disks (and at a lower price-point), by using far more compression (resulting in a lesser quality viewing experience). In even a mostly static scene, from the final (16x9, full-screen) season, the bitrate stays close to 40Mbps. Of course, the first two seasons were 4:3 (NTSC) formatted, so they are displayed here, with black sidebars. Because there is a lot of dead (black) space, the bitrates are lower than seen with the full-screen content, but everything would seem to indicate that those first two seasons were given the same level of (lower) compression as was given to the final season. I simply wanted to make the point that someone made a conscious choice to choose picture quality, over disk quantity (and a lower price), and I am certainly glad that “quality” won out, and hopefully you will agree.

    I had not procured any of the prior releases, so this was not a repeat-buy for me. So, bottom line, I’m excited about all the additional content included with this specific release, pleased with the picture quality, as noted above, and am pleased that everything arrived “as advertised”. I definitely recommend this package, and hope that others have the same (problem free) experience as I did.

    AlSO! For anyone viewing the series for the first time, be sure to SKIP the Special Features on Season 2, Disc Seven, until you finish Disk Eight (i.e. all of Season 2). There are numerous interviews in the Special Features (on Disk 7), which reference content in the final Season 2 episodes, and some of those interviews contain spoilers for those final episodes. (Obviously, the placement of those Special Features was not well thought-out.)

    Cette boxe, limitée à 25.000 exemplaires (j'ai eu l'exemplaire 23.334, un document officiel se trouve à l'intérieur), vaut vraiment le coût. Elle rassemble les 3 saisons Twin Peaks ainsi que le film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. Le design de la boîte est vraiment très jolie (je me demande si Lynch a participé au design de celle-ci?).

    Les quelques surprises à l'intérieur (beaucoup de photos de la série (bonne qualité sur du carton), silhouette de Laura Palmer embrassant l'Agent Dale Cooper etc.) sont très sympas.
