NICE PSYCHOLOGICAL HORROR

I DIDN'T GO INTO THIS WITH ANY GREAT EXPECTATION BUT REALLY ENJOYED THIS. THE STORY WAS VERY WELL TOLD, UNRAVELING A LITTLE MORE AND MORE AS IT WENT ALONG. IT EVEN PAID HOMAGE TO ONE OF THE HORROR MOVIE GREATS THAT NEVER REALLY GETS MUCH REFERENCE THAT OFTEN. JUST WHEN YOU THINK YOU KNOW WHERE THIS IS GOING IT TWISTS AND TURNS AGAIN. WELL DONE.

SOME SPOILERS WITHIN!

I'm finding it more and more difficult to find stuff to watch that isn't preachy or shoving an agenda down my throat. I primarily watched this because it was filmed in Finland. (I had to giggle at the NYC scenes, the Twin Towers made an appearance. I am from there, I WORKED there on Wall Street, that was Home to me. It's starting to not hurt nearly as much as it used to, so that was also a pleasant surprise: Past Grief and entered Fond Memories.) I was happy to see the old friends.

I digress. So this was my motive, the Finnish backdrop. Turns out, I really really enjoyed the story. Sure, there were some elements of Rosemary's Baby and Shutter Island along with some other vibes, but I loved every minute of it.

SPOILERS SPOILERS

I REALLY thought that she dug up the twin when the woman said, "You're Sick!" Or dug up ANY child to fit the bill. I thoroughly enjoy being surprised like this, I typically guess the ending/twists. I liked this a lot. Poor Anthony, man...I really started hating him because I did think he might have been somewhat sinister but jeez louise...Saint Anthony now...lol

I also and building a Wedding Swing on my land. I LOVED that idea!!

If you like pleasant surprises (and I really didn't give away TOO much): Give it a go. Enjoy the beautiful landscape.

Excellent storyline, and with all the twists and turns, although draggy, it kept me at the edge of my seat. The acting was five stars, and the plot twist was excellently executed. Thank you.

I enjoyed the film a ton and would give it 5 stars but I didn't like the end very much. I feel like it could have been better. Overall a thrilling watch though

A very enjoyable tilt-a-whirl kind of flick

A well-executed mix of horror sub-genres. Great acting all around, with Teresa Palmer being an absolute gem. A little confusing at certain points, but that's not always a bad thing. Lets your mind wander with possibilities, even if they end up being false.

A very slow burn

If you're looking for a movie with blood, gore, spontaneous nudity, and everything else associated with traditional horror films, you will hate this movie. The theme of this movie has been done before, too many times to count, but it's worth watching at least once. I thought the "reveal" was well done. You think this movie is about one thing and then it unmasks the actual plot. Well done! Definitely worth a watch.
