What happens when everything that can go wrong on one of the most important days in Jace Miller's career actually happens? And one of the main reasons: Fleur LaChance . After being trapped in the WORST uber ride with this sassy spitfire, circumstances and fate get involved and they just can't escape each other and their fireworks!! Gahh!! This novel was HOT!! Their chemistry was COMBUSTIBLE (seriously no one can write sexytimes like this author) and their banter was fiery and addicting!!
I could not get enough of Jace as he was so sexy and romantic. Furthermore, Fleur was sassy and the most perfect spitfire who gave Jace everything he deserved and then some! I did find some aspects of their story to be a little too convenient but I just went with it because (hello the title says it all!!) and their story and chemistry were fantastic. All in all this was great! Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula
Twist of Fate, the third of Jennifer Dawson’s series of Love and Other Disaster, had me smiling from page one. I think it was her best the series. Fun, flirty, sexy!
It begins with the two main characters sharing the Uber ride from Hell; he is on the way to an interview for a medical fellowship and she is on the way to the courthouse to defend her client. He thinks she is a spoiled menace to society. She thinks he is a plastic surgeon performing only facelifts and boob jobs on rich wives and girlfriends. Boy, were they both wrong!
This enemies to lovers story is so enjoyable that I read it in one sitting. A big smile was on my face the whole time.
What can I say? Reading one of Jennifer Dawson’s books just makes me happy.
Fleur, having been hurt one too many times, vows to focus on work, not men. On her way to court, she uses Uber ride share. Not wanting to get into trouble with her boss, Fleur makes a short stop for an emergency copy job. In doing so, she delays the pick up of Jace. Jace, not realizing he had chosen ride share, can't figure out what's taking Uber so long, they're 15min late. During the wait, the rain picks up, his umbrella breaks, and he's totally soaked. When Uber finally arrives, he's soaked, angry, and extremely late to his interview. He tries to persuade Fleur to let the driver drop him off first, but she believes her job is more important than his interview. Hate is immediate between them....
After a day that goes from bad to worse, Jace meets up with his friends at the local bar.....where he runs into Fleur or "Red" as he likes to taunt her with. They're snarky, mean, sassy to each other, but it only seems to fuel the fire that burns between them. Sparring turns into kissing...GAME ON!
A game of cat and mouse, a battle of wills.....This novel is COMBUSTIBLE, sassy, intelligent, and sweet. Insta-love at its best! I loved, loved, loved Jace and Fleur! Thank goodness for good friends willing to step in and knock their heads together! It's a quick, but brilliant read. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
First of all, I love how Jace and Fleur met. They shared an Uber ride together, both late to their respective destinations, and there was words exchanged as they fought to be the first stop of the ride. Despite liking this, I still had a rough start: I wasn't charmed by Fleur's unnecessary rudeness and quick-to-judge mentality. I was as irritated as Jace by the time they went separate ways. However, as the story progressed, I warmed up to her. I love how they were both super dedicated to their careers and worked their relationship around that. I also enjoyed seeing all the gang together with their significant others hanging out.
I only wish that I was more attached to Jace and Fleur to give this story a higher rating, but anyway it's still an entertaining read (WHY IS IT SO SHORT) filled with the usual Jen Dawson sexiness.
I liked this, though it took me more than half the book to get into the couple. It’s a novella, so it’s not a long time to really set up the antagonistic dynamic between Fleur and Jace and I think my enjoyment suffered as a result. The turn from anger to sex was swift and didn’t quite click for me. Not knowing why Fleur is so rude and disrespectful at the time she’s doing it was a major turnoff and it took me quite a while to let it go. I think that’s my main sticking point. However, Ms. Dawson is a talented writer and she managed to make it all come together towards the end. So if you don’t mind a prickly beginning, you may enjoy this romance.
