I have always been a fan of dark erotica and am always looking for good books in this genre to read, but as fans of dark erotica know it can be rather difficult because of how many different elements can be encompassed in the subject.  I have bought more than one book that just left me feeling sick to my stomach wishing I had never picked it up in the first place or some cheesy capture fantasy that you can't help but roll your eyes at through most of the story.  I was very happy to find that "Twist Me"  did not fall into either of these categories, but truly had all the elements I look for in a good dark book.  The book centers around Nora and Julian or otherwise known as Captive and Captor.  As soon as Julian sets eyes on Nora he decides he has to have her, and not giving her a chance to say no takes her.  What follows is,a whirlwind story filled with lots of twists, turns, pleasure, pain and love.  I loved how you were able to identify with Nora from the very beginning as to how she was feeling and her reactions to the circumstances she was in.  The emotion was real and could be felt in every scene in the book. It was easiy to identify with the conflict in the story, and did not feel overdone or exaggerated in any way.  The sex scenes were hot and thoroughly descriptive, but did not dominate the book so much as to take away from the story, and of course as any good dark erotica book will the story feels like it rips you to shreds in the middle but the ending makes it all worth it!  I enjoy sequels and was happy to see that although this one has one, it did not end on a major cliffhanger leaving you frustrated until the next book but has a great ending leading into second book.

First let me say, I loved the writing. Dark erotica is one of my favorite genres. Few authors, in my opinion, do it well. This would have been a 4 star read for me if the main character was older. Nora(h) has just turned 18 years old. A few days after her high school graduation, Julian(H), a 29 year old man, kidnaps Nora and takes her to his private island. Julian keeps Nora captive on his island for approximately 15 months. In those months Nora is repeatedly raped, kept isolated, controlled, and psychologically and sexually conditioned. I have an 18 year old child. I have spent sometime around 18 year olds and I consider them to be children. They act like them. The thought of this scenario happening to any 18 year old I know just killed the "erotic" aspect of this book for me and became just wrong on so many levels. I realize, by the other reviews, that I am one of the few that has this issue with Nora's age. Nora's response to her circumstances was far beyond her years. I liked how she was written. I liked how she responded to her circumstances. She seemed believable to me. She just did not seem believable as an 18 year old. Nora's character should have been written older. She acted like a much older experienced woman, not the young, sheltered, and inexperienced girl she was described or written as.

Once at Julian's private island home, Nora is introduced to Beth, the only other inhabitant of the island. I truly hated Beth. I felt no empathy for her. Yes, I empathized with the horrors of her past. I just do not think those horrors justified her attitude towards, and treatment, of Nora. Beth is the caretaker of the home. She is also responsible for taking care of Nora when Julian is away. Beth is a 37 year old woman and old enough to be Nora's mother.

MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!!!
This was one of the most disappointing books I have ever read! After reading a lot of the reviews for this book, I was really intrigued. After reading a few chapters, I was disgusted but determined to finish to give it the benefit of the doubt. I read this book fully aware of the caution the author gives. However, it was not the caution the author gives that appalled me so much, but the way the author depicts the main characters! Julian is nothing but a monster who only cares about what he can get. He does not show any love for Nora - she is only a toy that he can posses and do whatever his messed up mind wants. Sadly, he never gets his just desserts. What is more disappointing is how Nora is depicted in the book. She is nothing but a weak-minded pathetic woman who lets herself continued to be raped and tortured by Julian, only to fall in love with him. I wanted to cry at some points in the book at how weak she was and kept hoping that she would become an alpha female and become strong but that never happened either. She only became weaker, pining after Julian when they were apart. The worst part is the fact that Julian fully intended to commit the same act again at the end of the book and Nora happily goes with him! After reading this book, I was completely insulted and given the impression that this is how the author thinks women are. I was hoping to read a great story about two alpha characters but this was nothing but manipulation, greed and torture. There is no love to this story. I could go on and on but thinking about it just makes me angrier. I would not recommend this book nor will I read the next books in this series!
