About the Author
Erin Nicholas was fourteen when she first fell in love with love stories. Not long after that she started writing romances of her own, often spending family vacations in the backseat filling notebooks with stories. Now the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Sapphire Falls series writes about women getting their happily ever after with humor, heart, and hope. From the fireworks of that first kiss to the thrill of passion, Nicholas strives to create novels that celebrate the magic of true love.

The first couple in the spotlight is fire chief, Avery, and her former lover/quasi friend, Jake. I immediately liked and connected with the very capable and no-nonsense Avery, but Jake not so much. His constant need to be the center of attention and have his ego stroked made it difficult for me to warm up to him.
The story moved along at a good pace, but it really became interesting once Avery and Jake's friends–Bree, Kit, Max, and Dillon–were introduced. The author excels at creating a fun and interesting group of friends who you wish were part of your own circle. This group was no exception, and their teasing and snarky humor kinda stole the show for me.
Nicholas devoted the last couple of years almost exclusively to her previous series, so I was anxious to read something different with a little more depth, like her previous Bradford and Counting on Love books. While they were also series, each book seemed unique and had a tone all its own. Twisted Up started off that way, but somewhere along the way that suddenly changed, and I felt like I was reading another installment in the Sapphire Falls series.
Twisted Up is a sweet story and a good start to the new series. The author did a fantastic job of teasing us with snippets of the smexy encounters between Bree & Max and Kit & Dillon. I'm anxious to read their books, especially since I have a feeling they may be a little steamier.
Jake is a fixer. He works in emergency management and wants everyone to be safe and happy. The more people he can help, the better he likes it. Avery just wants to feel important enough to someone that they want to stay with her – not leave or send her away. She’s known Jake almost all her life. He was her first everything, but he was destined for bigger and better things. He left right after graduation. Now, Avery is the Fire Chief in Chance, Nebraska.
The people in the small town of Chance are pulling together to make their town look great for potential buyers of a local farm. Many are in town for a class reunion, too, including Jake. Chance wears a bullseye for tornadoes. When a big one strikes during the reunion, everyone pulls together to put the town back together, including Jake and Avery, who have a love/hate relationship and need to untwist it!
Don’t miss out – get this book and be ready for all of the twisting and turning that Erin Nicholas does so well!
