This was a total surprise, I've never heard of this author before and this was a freebie score. This book is great, I loved it! Dorothy was awesome and all the small town characters in her life were fun. I thought that the Hero was sweet, and the competition was hot too! The mystery was fun to unravel, I wasn't bored and the book was well written.
If you're worried about this being a parody of "The Wizard of Oz," don't be. It's not. It's a small town in Kansas that has a love affair with all things OZ and there are a bunch of jokes in the beginning of the book but I didn't notice them after awhile so they do taper off and it's cute rather than annoying.
*This is a clean romance..no naughty bits.
Minor Plot Reveal ------------
Example: They are fleeing in some tunnels from a possibly murderous gang who are specifically looking for Dorothy and she remembers a movie she saw and starts worrying about monsters, bottomless pits and other fantasies while a real serious problem is actually happening. She also keeps talking loudly about irrelevant things during dangerous moments. Included are irrelevant questions to medical personnel trying to save a life. This is To Dumb To Live TDTL. Of course both men think she's wonderful. Sorry but to me she's stupid which seriously detracts from her heroine status. Yes she's sweet, naive etc... all good traits, but do men really value extreme cluelessness? Does it make them feel smarter, better? What's with this anyway. Does it occur to them that they're going to have dumb kids? This isn't as bad as some that I have read with this type of heroine but I have obviously reached my saturation point and apologize for expressing the totality of my annoyance on this particular book. It is actually a good read in many ways and enjoyable.
