This book made me question how far I would go to protect my family, to create a family, and to preserve my family. Twists in Time presents several universal themes that would make for a great discussion: prejudice, science, ethics, world disasters, fears, and love. Although each of these themes is presented in a fictional world, I cannot think of a more needed timely discussion of each of these things. I know it would lend itself to a great conversation over maple-covered pecans.
. . .and there might be just a few minutes dedicated to swooning over the favorite Ava and Grants passages.
This book had a great cast of characters! So many personality traits revealed for each. I would like to have gotten to know some of the side characters better, like Ava’s sister, Cat, and Grant’s siblings. I feel like there was more potential there to fill them out. I hope there is more written about them in the further books (pretty please!)
I would also like to see a bit more of the villains. Most of the story is focused on the dilemma of Grant’s family that the little bits of story focused on the main villains seemed a bit rushed.
That said, I loved the story itself. I’m fascinated by the future technology the writer invented for this story, and how the characters make use of it.
Ava, the main character, is pretty well fleshed out. Grant, the male lead is someone I want to know more about. I hope there will be more books featuring these two getting to know each other better!
I enjoy books and movies about time travel and since I live in New Mexico, I definitely had to read this book! The book is well-written and the characters are well-developed and likeable. My only complaint about the book is the typical one I have about time travel stories: it's really hard to keep track of what time is being discussed and there are some inconsistencies between the timelines.
Since this book was set in New Mexico, I like the author's introduction of alien abduction into the story. It's always interesting to get new insights into the possibility that we aren't the only ones in our Universe!
I enjoyed the book and will look for more by this author. Thanks, Ms. Taylor, for introducing me to Ava's adventure!
