I also didn't like that the men had no issues about embarrassing their wives. The stuff with the paddles was ridiculous -I would have left the restaurant when Angus presented the "gift" to Tillie and Deacon. To state that "paddling a wife makes for a happy marriage" is demeaning. I don't understand the women never bring up the fact that MEN can also cause problems in a marriage? I wish Tillie and Nessa would have been more outspoken about this.
Again, I liked the storyline, most of the characters and the plot, but there was too much belittling the women without having some discussions about fairness. Also overly strong on the sex scenes, which didn't happen in the previous series. I am hoping some of these issues will be addressed in the next story.
The story will have some of the couples from previous stories, but in no way will the reader not follow along. The story will bring in several new brides, along with a mystery-suspense tale that all play in together.
Deacon and his brother, Reed Snow, are the owner of Snow Detective Agency. When a large shipment of gold coins leave San Francisco heading to three separate locations all come up missing, the Snows will be contacted by one of the banks they had helped before. Along their journey to investigate, they will meet up with a young woman, Tilly Youngblood. With Reed bringing Lilac Indigo on this trip, she enjoys the company of Tilly---and she decides to play matchmaker.
“Sometimes, you just have to make sure Cupid’s arrow is pointed in the right direction.”
Back in Big Rock, Angus Kelly is conversing with his mail-order bride, Nessa O’Shea. A couple of letters and telegrams and these two are a match made in heaven. It seems like a win-win for the town of Big Rock and the single bachelors and lonely hearted women in small towns.
“The man in my dreams pales in comparison to you.”
Newcomers to Big Rock will add a touch of mystery and suspense as they set out to buy a large section and land and make plans. Will Tilly decide to play detective and keep Deacon in the dark? When Angus becomes concerned when he returns home, and Nessa is gone, will a message on the door for Deacon set this tale into motion?
The story has the good, the bad, and the ugly of people. It will have the Snows on a case, traveling with Lilac Indigo and Tilly Youngblood. A dominant man, Deacon, taking a headstrong Tilly to task and marriage. It will bring several people together, surprises in the works, and there are still two missing men and the train's gold. While Tilly accepts her behavior was dangerous and is punished, she still can’t forgive herself.
“Will you please do this for me? I need it. I need it to make sure the slate is clean. I need it so I can let go of this guilt.”
One thing about these men is that they love their women and are protective of them, but they also know how to turn them over their knees and correct their naughtiness. The story has some sizzling hot erotic scenes between couples and multiple disciple scenes.
