Two Centuries of Valor: The Story of the 5th Infantry Regiment Paperback – August 19, 2015
About the Author
Following graduation from Stanford University, Sam Kier was immediately drafted into the U. S. Army. He completed basic training at Fort Ord and was assigned to the 5th Infantry Regiment. During much of his time on active duty, he served as the regimental troop information and education NCO. One of his responsibilities was to update the regimental history and see that it became part of the troop education program. Following his separation from the army, Kier completed a Ph. D. in educational psychology at the University of Arizona and worked in the public schools of California for forty-years as a classroom teacher, school psychologist, director of special education and professor of education. Now retired, he is a life member of the 5th Infantry Regiment Association and a founding sponsor of the National Museum of the United States Army. Sam met his wife, Betty, while he was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. They reside in Pacific Grove, California.
