Two and a Half Men: The Complete Tenth Season (DVD)

It's been a year since we saw Walden Schmidt (Ashton Kutcher), a lovelorn Internet billionaire, attempt to drown himself in the ocean after his wife kicked him out. He stumbled into the Malibu beach house where tightly-wound chiropractor Alan Harper (Jon Cryer) and his slacker teenage son, Jake (Angus T. Jones), had been living with Alan's brother for the past eight years before his untimely passing. Walden bought the house and invited Alan to remain there, saving Alan from having to move in with his mother. Walden asked Berta (Conchata Ferrell), who had been working in the household, to stay as well. Despite his unsuccessful history with women, Alan found himself mentoring Walden. Walden, Alan and Jake adjusted to their new living arrangement and created a surrogate family unit to make each a better man … or at least try.

One and a half men and a narcissist who can't act. When they got rid of Charlie, John Cryer should have taken over as the star. What most people don't understand is that John Cryer is a comic genius and an excellent actor. He was badly cast in this show from the beginning. The writers should never have made him into the stooge. With Charlie's supposed passing, the writers should have allowed John's character to grow up, become self assured and take over the show. Instead they forced this looser on us and killed the show. Why is it still on the air?

Although the new premise of the show is not as believable as the original with Charlie Sheen, it still produces a laugh or two because it is well written, and all the characters are still funny. I'm not a big fan of Ashton Kutcher, in my opinion he's not much of an actor, but he is adequate for the part. Jon Cryer is still the best part of the show. He's the Barney Fife to whoever is the new sheriff in town. There have been some fun twists in the season, with the character Rose returning to try to get Walden, and some not so fun twists like Miley Cyrus showing up as an annoying chatterbox. I'd say this show is still worth watching, but it should probably conclude next season before the premise runs its course.

I had hoped for more in the second season of the rebooted show. There were definitely some episodes that were funny or interesting, but for the most part, this season continued the shortfalls of the new version. Allan has become a joke on the show. He is lazy, and an unabashed mooch. He never goes to work, rarely seems like a caring or likable guy and gives no reason to make it seem believable that Walden would want him around. The show is still watchable, but there is as much disagreeable content as there are clever or funny scenes.

The humor in Season 10 is definitely more direct crudity, not quite as subtle as with Charlie but I certainly wouldn't classify it as course or foul... it's so darn funny no matter how you look at it. Some funny guests appear as well. Maybe not be everyone's taste (as could also be said with Charlie) but I loved Season 10. Ashton plays the part of Walden so well. He's not trying to be Charlie, he is his own character. The one complaint I have about the show is that Alan is too much in Season 10. I actually get irritated with some of his shenanigans. Mean and deceitful to a level that is beginning to really make me hate the character. He used to be a sponge.. that was ok, now he's bordering on being an open thief and liar. I don't think that's helpful as it makes Walden look stupid for letting him abuse their friendship, and Walden by default is NOT an idiot. Let this continue much longer and you'll lose some loyal followers, you're insulting my intelligence with Alan's behavior, tone it down.

Usually, I don't like it when they substitute actors but this was handled really well. They didn't try to continue the "Charlie" character. His replacement, is not a replacement but an entirely new character to be explored and enjoyed. Kudos.

It's definitely different without Charlie Sheen aka Charlie Harper. I also think Angus T. Jones and his lessened presence as Jake Harper is the reason for his recent outburst regarding the crudeness of the show. Since Ashton Kutcher arrived, the show is about 85% less crude and 50% less funny.

I stopped reviewing products because the dealers tend to get upset when you're honest but in this case I'm happy to disappoint.
Even with some pretty girls, a trade mark of the first eight seasons, the writers managed to completely botch a concept designed around charlie sheen's real night life. Ashton isn't without his charms, it's unfortunate that none of it shows in this show. The plot is a rehash (pun intended) of much better episodes where charlie kept seeing images of other women including his own mother. There seems to be an over abundance of gay humor as well as pot, not so much about the kind of drunk humor that made the show great. I actually found many of the jokes revolting.
