Faith is saved from the only world she has ever known by someone she doesn't know, yet she feels safe with hm. Fisher tells her some secrets of their past and why he was drawn to her. He has abilities that make him a target, but also allow him to avoid capture. Now he has brought faith into his world with the knowledge she has powers of her own.
It is an action oriented tale that leaves you wanting more. Being this is the start of a series there is enough questions answered to keep you intrigued and enough mystery to send you looking for the next book.
A great story that kids will enjoy.
This Christian based science fiction book is written as a story for young readers. It fits well into the third grade plus category and promises to be a fun series for boys and girls alike to enjoy. The pacing and plotting are suited for that age group. I began reading this story and enjoyed it so much I finished it in one sitting. The main characters are well conceived and I connected with them instantly. The world she creates becomes real quickly and is easy to envision. I felt as if I was traveling with Faith and Fisher through each trouble they encountered and overcame. The story weaves character building and values into the story as it progresses without being heavy-handed.
Now I am ready to begin Book 2 – Gifted – and look forward to completing the series. I think Celesta Thiessen is a YA author I will add to my favorites list.
I am looking forward to the rest of the series.
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
(Note: Susan has not read the book and this review expresses the thoughts of her 16-year old.)
The adventures of this courageous pair have plenty of twists and quirky details that will appeal to young readers and keep them hanging on to see what happens next. The story begins with embedded moral undertones (Faith worries about stealing a scooter) that blossom into Christian concepts. The development of “the way of the cross” is integral to the plot, but it is helpful, rather than preachy. Thank you!
(I obtained this book during a free promotion, and this is my honest opinion.)
This book was well written with lots of action, but I only gave it four stars because I didn't emotionally connect with the characters. Most of the time, their problems were over before I had a chance to feel their fear and worry about them.
