“Love isn’t a choice.” In this series, this statement couldn’t be any truer! What an emotional ride! Whereas with book 1, I was an emotional mess because of Danni’s turmoil from losing her first love, now in this book, I am in emotional discord because after she FINALLY allowed herself a second chance at love, she is thrown back into a tailspin when her life is tipped upside down.
A tale about second chances, omissions, deceit, jealousy, passion and of course, love, TWO IS A LIE will have you engrossed throughout the whole novel and left with your jaw hitting the floor. Pam Godwin has the reader pledging allegiance to one man in one chapter, but then has the reader jumping into the arms of the other man in the next chapter. I have NEVER invested my heart and soul into two utterly opposite alpha men while reading. Pam has me literally feeling torn in two, just like Danni. Cole is all her “first love” memories, all-consuming love and impulsive desires. Trace is her slow-burn, scorching need, and deeply ingrained second-chance love. I can see how if Danni chooses one over the other, she’ll truly be ripped in half, because they each hold half of her heart. Both men bring completely different qualities to the table that are complimentary to Danni and I could see her with either of them forever. The internal conflict going on within the characters was palpable and heart wrenching. Who is she NOT going to choose? *my heart is breaking just thinking about it* Who is going to get their heart broken? TWO IS A LIE made my clear chose, not so clear anymore.
There were times where I wanted to throw my kindle because of the decisions that Danni was making, but then I could empathize with her in the next breath. She was in a perpetual “limbo of indecisiveness” with no clear answer. From what I gleam from the blurb for THREE IS A WAR, Danni seems to get some of her fiery attitude back and I’m hoping she grows more of a backbone so to speak. I am anticipating her character growing in strength and knowing truly where her heart lies. I said this in my review for book one, but truly this love triangle is like NO other. I can NOT wait for book 3, THREE IS A WAR! We’re left on a cliffy again with this book, so my anticipation is up there!
I am not sure that I am going to read the last book even though I thought the first two books were good. I will have to read spoilers to find out certain things. For one, I want more information about Cole. Specifically if Cole was celibate during their 4 year separation as he claims. It is one of main reasons that I wanted him to be with Danni as opposed to Trace because he was willing to forgo pleasure for that long because if Cole could not have Danni then he did not want anyone. However at the every end of the story evidence is presented that Cole lied, that he may have had smex with OW during the separation and not been celibate. If that is the case then I am not reading the story. Also assuming that Cole was faithful if Danni does not end up Cole or they don't all end up together then I will not read the last book. Usually I only want one hero and one heroine because I don't like my heroes sharing but this story will be the exception if the only other choice is her ending up with Trace.
I'm pretty sure I don't like Danni. And Cole? I know I don't like him.
He played dirty and Danni was weak and played right into his hands!
Where does all of that leave Trace?
On the outside looking in! Makes me so mad.
I guess that's what this book was supposed to do? Make you feel all sorts of emotional. Success!!
I was so sure Danni was going to do the right thing. She didn't! She broke her own rules. I want to slap her. Hard.
My heart is with Trace. It has been from the beginning. It will be till the end.
The end?? No, I cannot wait till August for the final book in this series.
This has been one of my favorite books this year, so far. I'm thinking that if everybody doesn't read this series, they are missing out on the genius that is Pam Godwin! She is one of those authors that is so good at ripping your heart out, you never even see it coming.
This story is epic!! Absolutely breathtaking and heartbreaking at the same time. Emotional. On the one hand, you need to have the tissues handy while flinging the book across the room with the other!!
Emotional? Yeah. Read this book.
Love this book.
That is all.
