A great work on the split between the two Communist giants, written in excellent style. The author argues persuasively that the end of the great friendship was an inevitable result of the Soviet aspirations to lead the international Communist movement alone and the Chinese desire to attain an equal rank.
My only regret is that the author did not cover the subjects of Sukarno's Indonesia re-orientation from Moscow to Beijing and Sukarno's fall ending the Chinese bloc building attempt in Asia (the China-North Korea-Cambodia-Indonesia axis); yet these aspects are admittedly peripheral to the main theme of the book, and the lack of all affairs Indonesian cannot be regarded as an omission.
