But I hated chapter twenty-one. Suddenly, in the middle of all this good came a sort of Keystone Cops episode. This one found out and then this one knew and oh, yea, he overheard, too. And if that wasn't enough, then came all the "well-meaning" interference. It felt, to me, out of place and made me really angry. I found myself fuming, "Butt out," half a dozen times.
Apparently it pushed my buttons.
Other than that chapter, I enjoyed everything else.
This picks up where One night with a cowboy ends. Tuck and Becca are getting married and Emma is in town for the weekend. When she meets Logan you can definitely feel sparks between the two. the hot and steamy scenes weren't bad either ;)
the author did a great job drawing the reader into the book and the characters. I liked that they were an older couple. For the most part they spoke their minds. the author didn't have to create unnecessary drama.
From the blurb, and maybe I read it wrong, I kind of expected a love triangle of some sort, that maybe Emma would be pulled between Jace and Logan, but it doesn't quite go that way, and I was happy about it. If anything, I was frustrated by Jace, and by Tara, too, who kept interrupting my romance! Tara made me want to pull my hair out. Seemed every time I turned around, these two were getting in the way, when all I wanted was my main couple to pick it up and get going. For me, the first hundred pages were slow-going, and some of that was the interruption by secondary characters and my feeling a little tired of the pre-wedding scenes, but then I finally got Logan and Emma together and it was hot and sexy.
After that first sex scene, the story picked up for me. Plus, there's a theme here that I love to read in romance, and this increased my interest a lot. I won't spoil it since the blurb doesn't hint at it, but once I saw what was going to happen, I had to keep reading. I wanted to see how Logan and Emma were going to deal with this unexpected event. Both Emma and Logan wanted some fun sex for a night, and it was sweet to see them want more from each other.
After a slow and kind of frustrating start to the romance, the pace picks up, the heat increases, and the love connection develops sweet and sexy. Not a lot of angst here, just a bit of drama; add in some love scenes, really well-written and hot, and this turned out to be a sweet and satisfying romance with a theme I adore.
