Veronica - at 22 - was madly in love with her handsome fiancé Clayton, until she found he was marrying her as part of a deal with her father. She fled and started a new life, but 5 years later her two sisters ask her to accompany them back home as their father has died. It means seeing Clayton again and confronting all the feelings she still has for him.

Although I loved parts of the book, I also liked some things less.

What I liked: the chemistry between Veronica and Clayton. The fact he obviously loves her.
What I liked less: the lack of communication. Why didn't Clayton come after her? Why keep all kinds of relevant information from her?

The sisters, Bea and Sabrina, both seemed to be in trouble at the end of the book. It is as if everyone in the book has a rotten family and scars from their childhood.

Was just hanging on by middle of the book but Molly lost me with her Democratic comment that's it....Simple if I wanted to read about political comments I would read a different kind of book!

This is the first book in a series of three maybe four and I think all books have been written by different authors, which should be interesting, but this story starts us off on the King Family. I was hooked on the storyline from the beginning, loved the idea that maybe an arranged (sort of) marriage could be taking place and wondered if actual feelings were involved from both characters considering we know how devastated Ronnie is when her world comes tumbling down. I loved the five year gap, love how Ronnie recreated herself and how she tried to help others, including her sisters. But I especially loved the reunion between Clayton and Ronnie, loved her sass and spunk but also her vulnerability and Clayton too for that matter. I mean he's got his work cut out for him and since most of the story is told from Ronnie's perspective, it takes a while to figure Clayton out. A really good start to this series, I've already downloaded the next book because now I have to see where this journey takes me.

The Tycoon is the very touching story by Molly O'Keefe that truly made me happy. A bit of a change for this author since this book is less intense than her usual, but no less engaging. The lovely prose that the Author is known for, continues in this first book about the offspring of the ruthless and very rich Hank King, and the struggle to find a bit of happy in their complicated world. With Veronica King, we get the selfless, hardworking oldest King daughter, who has found a life outside of the King's Land after her heart is broken by her fiancee and her father. 5 years later, her world is turned upside down once again and Clayton Rorick, as her former everything decides to fight to get his Ronnie back.

I just love Veronica. Her decisions are never easy and she continues to put her sisters Bea and Sabrina first no matter what. Considering all that their father has put them through during their upbringing and early adult years, they somehow have good hearts and always stick together. Clayton is truly a unique kind of man but I loved how much he tried where Veronica was concerned to make things right despite his assumed lack of remorse at how much he hurt her while formerly engaged. Their battle of wills with the more mature and confident Veronica not caving even when she was weak with lust for the love of her life was smartly written and completely believable. But those frail attempts at not being able to resist each other proved futile (thank goodness!) and we were treated to some really steamy scenes as Clayton and Veronica attempt to find their way back to each other.

The Author puts more than one obstacle on their path to what we all hope is a happy ending with raw emotions and secrets revealed that were both heartbreaking and exasperating. Bittersweet scenes with Clayton, in particular, were heartfelt and tender and broke my heart just a little as the realization of his less than stellar youth came to light.. And it is those kinds of scenes that would not let me put this one down! I greatly look forward to more from the rest of the King crew including bastard son, Dylan, and his story as well. I have to make mention of the unique way the next two books in this series will be presented: The Bodyguard will be written by Stephanie Doyle and the The Bastard will be written by Julie Kriss. I think that is very clever and will put a different kind of spin on each story.

I loved every single moment of The Tycoon and these endearing characters have a definite fan in me. Molly O'Keefe has proven time and again that she is always willing to bring the reader not only her very best but something truly distinctive. Which is why she is a go-to author for me.

This was such a fantastic book that had me hooked from page one. I loved that I felt so heartbroken immediately for Veronica (Ronnie). But she can’t get over Clayton. Can he get her to give him another chance? I can’t even put into words how much this book consumed me. He’s never been shown love, how can he expect Ronnie to ever give her love to him? Will he ever admit to loving her? Will he choose her? I cried so hard too, and had happy tears in the end. This is the beginning of a series, no worries, each book gives both pov, a happy ever after and no cliffhanger. I highly recommend this book.

This is the first book I’ve read by Molly O’Keefe but I can guarantee it will not be the last. This was such a good story! Such a well written book and an engaging loving tale of two damaged people who deserve to find happiness. I wanted to hate Clayton but as the story continued he wrapped himself around my heart. Veronica is a strong willed but soft romantic woman who has been hurt and somehow manages to keep giving of herself. She’s scared to be hurt but still open to love. I adored everything about this book and can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this series. 5 stars.
