Throughout the entire book, we as the reader are waiting for a big confrontation between the two characters, but literally everytime the female lead tries to talk they just have sex. Badly written sex.
Then the male lead bullies the poor woman around the entire book and she doesn't stand up for herself once. After the guy makes a big stink about letting go of the past, he betrays her on their wedding day which naturally forces the long-awaited confrontation. Yawn.
I couldn't read any more. I assume they live happily ever after in their sham marriage.
Jasmine grew up wealthy and oblivious to the destruction her father caused all around him. Derek was from the wrong side of the tracks. In ten years their lives will be reversed. He is now a multi-billionaire tycoon and she works hard, but barely gets by due to her father’s unethical business practices.
Derek comes seeking revenge and instead finds out he has a half grown son and the woman he's been angry with for so many years is not who he thought she was. They both fight against the passion they still feel for each other, but in the end it is irresistible.
Come take the journey with Derek and Jasmine as they rediscover a passion that never died and the lies that kept them apart."
I've read other books by Melody Anne and enjoyed them and while she is not a very polished author, Tycoon's Revenge is so far below her usual standard, I am shocked she dares ask people to pay money for it. Is this a first draft? Because this plot is not very well thought out and the placing of chapters is confusing. It would have been helpful, since they jump from the past to the present and back to the past, at the very least to have said "ten years ago" at the beginning of a chapter when making that jump.
The plot is also implausible. If Jasmine is really such a sweetheart and everyone knows her to so, how then can everyone be so willing to suddenly and with no evidence, believe her to overnight turn into a cold-hearted bitch on the word of the man everyone already knew all along to be a nasty bastard of a man?
One of my least favorite tropes in romance is The Big Misunderstanding because very few authors can pull it off in a believable manner and Melody Anne should not have attempted it.
The author should do her fans a huge favor and pull this story off the shelves and substantially re-write it.
10 years later Derek Titan is now a Multi Billionaire and has taken over David Freeman's company. This is his revenge. David Freeman destroyed his fathers business plans. Derek thinks Jasmine was in on it.
Derek fins out that Jasmine has had his son and never told him. I loved the interaction between Derek and his 9 years old son Jacob. They took to each other like a fish to water. Derek is very angry with Jasmine. He refuses to share custody of Jacob. They will marry and become a family for Jacob or he will go to court and take Jacob away.
These two can't keep there hands off each other. They are still deeply in love with each and eventually they find out that neither of them left the other. It was David Feeman, Jasmines father who orchestrated there seperation.
This was a very good entertaining fast moving story. The only complaint I have is 10 years is to long for a parent to be seperated from there child. Not even know they had a child. Jacob is already past 9 years of age. There is just to much of his life that Derek missed out on.
Derick was great. He is being propelled by vengeance of things he thought he knew but in reality, sometimes things aren't always what they seem. He was a yummy alpha and I love that as soon as he was around Jasmine his insides get twisted. He is true proof to never get up and you can achieve greatness.
Jasmine kept secret's, and they propelled this story on. I really liked her and how genuine she really was. At times I wanted to shake her and him too but in the end they were both great characters.
The pace of this story was perfect.
The plot was fun and steamy with just the right amount of mystery and sad from the heroine.
Overall, I love this book. I think people that like secret baby's, second chance romance and a little bit of "what is going on" in their books will totally enjoy the first book of this series. 4 stars.

The problem between Jasmine and Derek could have been sorted sooner if they communicate about what what happened but they but both believed they were right about what each other did. The whole situation caused so much lost time between them. Especially for their son but it was good that Jasmine didn't tell the the boy anything bad about his father so the a bond from quickly between them as soon as they met. It is a lovely story. I enjoyed reading it.
I choose this based on her NYT best seller status but was sadly disappointed. Not in the prose, which was well written but in the same old/same old regurgitated storyline. I apologise to those who enjoy the formulaic 'romance' trope, in which case - fill your boots, but I get bored easily and it takes more to 'grip' me.
Small town boy turned millionaire meets long lost first love who initially despises him because of his past treatment of her, but they’re required to work together .... can you see where this is going. But of course, there is the hidden secret (which I won’t reveal as a spoiler) but it’s not that much of a ‘secret’ in the story anyway which is meant to create the tension/conflict but it's so predictable it’s almost laughable.
Come on all of you top-selling best selling authors, please, please, please, can you put your thinking caps on & come up with something unique, original & less predictable next time... instead of churning out the same old formulaic storylines But then, maybe I'm just not the target audience.
They meet again ten years later in a complete role reversal. Despite the fact that the chemistry between them is still very strong, they both choose to make life difficult for each other. Derek more so than Jasmine. When the secret Jasmine is keeping from Derek is revealed, the situation becomes more awkward even though they both have to make allowances and compromises.
The full extent of the betrayal is not revealed until the end and this made me appreciate the way the story is told even more. I really enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more from this author.
The book is written well in parts, and the story does get very emotional; I actually shed a few tears towards the end. The two star-crossed lovers come together sexually quite early in the story, but it is sort of swept under the carpet, and again later on, which would not happen ordinarily, so it comes across as a bit far-fetched.
The acid test is whether I read parts of it aloud, or would ever pick the book up again to read (metaphorical as it's an eBook), and I didn't and I wouldn't. It was a nice, lazy Sunday read. The 'sex scenes' are nicely written, and not too explicit, which is a nice change. I needed a rest. :)
Derek has just the right amount of alphaness and Jasmine the needy recipient. There is a secret that Jasmine has kept that will rock Derek's world and will change his life forever .
The book continues with stories about the other Titan family members which I'm about to dive into.
To the story itself, it's what I would call a bodice ripper, of the style in 1970s, M&B at its worst, when everything is over dramatic. Jasmine thinks about slapping Derek in the office! Shouts at the CEO. Such behaviour pathetic and deserving instant dismissal and if she hit him, have her prosecuted. When I got to that bit I thought better check low reviews. Have to concur with them. Errors, inconsistencies. E.g. that above action takes place as she returns from lunch. So melodramatic. Why was she surprised at changes? Wasn't she there in morning? How dare she shout at new HR team. What a shrew. Not my type of book. Thank heavens it was free for me.
The characters are good and the story is fun and engaging. I loved the interaction between the two main characters. The love scenes were a bit tame but still enjoyable.
I would certainly recommended this book and would suggest a good glass of red to accompany it!
