Spoilers. Be warned. - When you see Tyler Perry's previous works, the story lines, the character development, and then you see this... I could barely tolerate Boo but love Perry and wanted to give Boo 2 a chance. Like the first, I was skipping through scenes that just dragged on far too long with adlib. Joe is supposed to be overbearing but it was too much with his constant reverences to filthy sex and Madea not have control of the situation and shut him up. It just went on and on. And breaking character was funny the very first time Tyler did it in a play. Maybe once in a movie. But now it's every movie and constant references to Madea being a man. Be Tyler Perry or be Madea. Pick one. And you can't develop characters so well in plays and then bring the exact same characters to the big screen calling them a different name when they act, dress, speak, EVERYTHING is the same. Where is Tiffany's actual mother, Debrah? Debrah just suddenly never happened. And there is zero character development. Tiffany is horrible to watch. She's the worst brat Tyler's ever come up with and she gets no discipline. Where is Madea and her guns in her purse and belt ready to actually teach a child this behavior is not okay? Brian stayed a push-over through both movies and learned nothing. A prank is not discipline. They didn't even make Tiffany stay in jail with the others. What the hell? I expect more from Tyler Perry. I have faith in him to do jaw dropping, standing ovation shows, and it just hasn't been happening since he left the stage. He'd have to come up with something REALLY spectacular again. Until then, I'm out.
Tyler Perry going for the record for using the words "pimp" and " hoe." There used to be a lesson or moral in Tyler Perry's movies but he seems to have let go of that aspect of his storytelling. He's all about being crass now and this movie is not family friendly or anyone friendly if they would rather not hear profanity.
I am SO disappointed. I'm a big Tyler Perry fan but both of these Halloween movies are awful. The down-home, common sense wisdom where love prevails has been replaced by CONSTANT sexual innuendo by the elderly. Maybe three lines that Hattie said that didn't have anything to do with sex and watching Madea jump up and down for 30 seconds ... really - are trying to appeal to 3rd graders? I miss the Madea that would have reasoned some sense into that dysfunctional family.
I love most of Tyler Perry's Madea movies and I liked this one and all of the characters--good seeing most of them from the 1st one except for Oday. Missed not seeing her. I thought the first Boo was funnier and different. This one had funny moments; Joe's character is tiresome. The pimp and ho stories are becoming redundant, plus Joe was in way too many scenes and had too many lines this time and Madea didn't have as much. I enjoy Madea most of all and the fact that she didn't have as many lines was disappointing. However, Joe does make me laugh when he calls Madea "Bro' or tells folks she's a dude! LOL! Another thing, Mr. Perry likes others to share in the wealth, (don't see much of BJ, though), so the characters had a little bit more input. That's the extra 1/2 point right there! Aunt Bam and Hattie are hilarious--they always make me laugh from the belly. I'm glad the frat boys (most of them, that is) were back--Brock O'Hurn is a honey and it was great that Lexy Panterra's character was brought back, too! There were a couple of new faces, which was refreshing for a change! Mr. Perry needs to give BJ more lines and possibly a story based around him. Just a thought!
Tiffany's attitude hadn't changed that much from the 1st movie. She needs some lessons on humility from none other than Madea and those crazy ladies!! That would be another great project for Mr. Perry to consider. All in all I'm rating the movie 3-1/2 stars out of 5!
I love this movie. A little slow in the beginning, but when it picks up, POW. It’s funny . It’s funny it’s a movie I don’t understand why people have to make a federal case. Sit back and enjoy it and try not to ruin it for others. Could you tell I went to the movies with people sitting in seats beside me who couldn’t keep their big mouths shut. Why they have to blow it for others. K I be done fussen . To Tyler P. Keep it up till you can’t stand her no more. Love you dude.
