The Amazon download service delivered to my Android tablet flawlessly. Impressed as I have many androids and it found the right one first time. Downloaded quickly too,
Overall, would recommend.
I read Melissa Eisler’s book in 2 evenings. It reads like a guide: fast and easy. There is no extra fluff. The instructions are easy to follow. I enjoyed Melissa’s story as well: she comes across as a very humble yet knowledgeable teacher who went through some tough times in her life and was able to overcome all the challenges and grow. I decided to start with just 7 minutes of daily breathing/meditation routine following her guide. So far it has been working for me very well: I’ve become less reactive, my mood throughout the day has improved and overall I feel like I have better control of my attitude towards external events and feel happier. I would highly recommend this book to anyone, especially if you are new to meditation.
Hence, I was very excited to learn that Melissa is releasing her first book for busy minds early in the year. Because I’ve been following her blog for quite some time, I was very lucky to get an advanced copy of the book. To be honest, I hesitated a bit about reading it because I do not necessary think of myself as Type A. However, I am so happy I gave the book a try. In reality, this manuscript is for anyone who has a busy life and juggles many things simultaneously: day-time jobs, families, side projects, hobbies, occasional travels and much more. While doing all this we very often find ourselves stressed, tired and unable to calm our monkey minds.
I very much enjoyed the book: it is very instructional yet personal. By the time I finished the manuscript, I developed a very intimate connection with the author. Her story spoke to me on so many levels. The author’s step-by-step guide is very clear and easy to follow. I’ve learned new meditation techniques I did not know anything about up until now, and, surprisingly, all of them are not as intimidating and time-consuming as they may first seem. I was able to incorporate a breathwork into my morning routine and I have to say together with my morning meditation it does make a huge difference on my day: I am much calmer throughout it, I am able to accomplish more without having to stress about every little thing, I make better decisions and overall, feel happier and present.
The book is very easy to read and understand. It literally took me a few hours in the evening to finish it, hence, if you think you don’t have time, think twice: this book is a gem and will help you to start meditating. I would recommend The Type A’s Guide to Mindfulness to anyone who is looking to start meditating but think they don’t have time, who is looking to improve their wellbeing and find ways to manage their stress, whose mind is always turned on even in the night.
