Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Robert Ludlum was a gracious manwho hosted the launch party for my second thriller, Vapors Although we shared a genre, my bookswere more political than his, at least until TheTyphoon Sanction, which I wrote as my homage to Robert and the final stepin my own transition from thrillers to adventure novels.
Although I've had good successwith three previous thrillers, I wrote TheTyphoon Sanction as thoughLudlum was looking over my shoulder. I think I succeeded in creating a story hewould have loved to read.

About the Author

Iwas 19 when I first escaped over an international border. Mexican Federalesstormed into a bloody brawl at a crappy bar deep inside Juarez, and I stoppedfighting to bolt down the stairs. A fast moving parade of uniforms chased thisgringo through crowded streets as they blasted their whistles in warning of abullet in the back.

I absolutely loved that feeling and have beenjumping borders ever since, usually with a legal visa, sometimes with a blackmarket one, and occasionally with no cover-of-authority at all (I'm not goodwith rules). I've jumped for governments and security clients, but mostly outof my own lust for adventure, and I've always done it alone. That is until mybeautiful, brainy, Belgian wife - a war-zone veteran who's fluent in severallanguages and can drive just about anything with wheels - teamed up with me.

I'm Wes DeMott and I'm an adventurer. I can'thelp myself. My dad laid out the pattern and my mom sewed the seams. I'vebroken dozens of bones and required hundreds of stitches to close wounds, but Istill live for the metal taste that only comes when excitement barely outpacesgenuine fear. Add an ocean to that exotic flavor and I'm happier than a kidwith an ant farm.

I'm also an award-winning, internationalbestselling novelist. I don't write stories about outer space or werewolvesbecause I don't know squat about either one, but like Hemingway and Londonbefore me, you can bet your last canteen of water that I'm pretty damn familiarwith everything you'll read in my books. To adventure, my friend...Wes
