The Typitoons are divided into categories: Simple Things, Dress, Cafeteria, Human Life, Messages, Transport, World’s Wonders, Tools, Signs and Symbols, and Snapshots – each heading gives a bit of insight on how to solve the puzzles. Lines or letters form the keyboard are accompanied by the first letter of what the lines represent, a possible hint is given, and then the player must decide what the image is and provides the correct last letter in order to solve the puzzle. Some of them are fairly easy and many of them are true brainteasers!!
For those who have been following Grabarchuk’s Puzzles and have that smug idea that anything placed before you is a cinch, prepare to spend some serious – and very exciting – time with these toughies! Grady Harp, December 13
The typitoon is shown and then the first letter of each word in the answer is shown with spaces to reflect how many letters are in the answer. It is your job to find the last letter of the word or phrase and select it from four possible choices.
The puzzles are given a 'category' like Simple Things, Cafeteria, Transport, etc. and they each have a clue which fills in a few more letters.
This worked great on my Kindle Fire although it crashed my Kindle app on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 twice. I'm not sure if it is a coincidence since the Kindle app rarely crashes. But I have had no trouble on my Fire.
This is fun and great to work in a group to see what others come up with.
It's fun, but since you are only asked to list the final letter of the word you are looking for, you may guess correctly just from knowing how spelling works in English, and how likely a given letter is to be the last letter of a word. It might have worked better if sometimes you were asked to list the second, or fifth, or whatever letter of the target word.
Still - Recommended.
