Kilter was introduced in Stygian, as a Scar with a hairpin trigger temper, and a man that truly hates people. When he spent some quality time(not) with Rayne, a woman he meets at her evil husband’s compound while trying to break another Scar out of captivity, he never thought he would see her again. But he made a promise to her, so he goes back for her. Rayne has been in captivity since she was ten years old, when her parents died. She ended up in the compound that does horrible testing on paranormal creatures. She’s almost broken and suffers from anorexia. Meeting Kilter was the first good thing that has happened to her since she lost her parents.
The story of these two and how they eventually fall for each other would have made for a story all on its own, but the author introduces us to a young witch, Abby, and another Scar, Damien. These two end up with major problems after Abby tastes a drop of vampire blood, while drunk. Liam, the vampire, wants Abby for himself, and Abby wont be able to resist him with his blood in her, making her his slave forever. However, Abby has an even bigger secret and Damien, her recent fling, finds himself in the fight of his life to save her from this fate.Read more ›
Kilter Is extremely stubborn, harsh, and has trust issues - even from his own kind (other Scars)..
Rayne lost her parents when she was 10years old and has been living in a compound as a science experiment .. She has a lot in common w/Kilter - she doesn't trust, standoff, and she is slowly wasting away to the point of death..
We 1st meet Rayne at the end of book 1 when Kilter finds her as he is going in after other scars and while in there Rayne is helping Kilter and she asks him to take her with him.. Kilter tries; however, she is too weak and small to keep up and if he has any hope w his mission, he must come back for her.. Rayne doesn't believe that will ever happen..
In this book, Kilter keeps his promise and finds Rayne and is able to get her out of that place and then they blow it up....
From this point there are so many twists, secrets, feelings that these two begin to feel and don't know how to handle their feelings... We also get the secondary characters as well... From - Roarke, A friend who did what he could for Rayne while being held up in that awful place.. Then the rest of gang from bk1 show up and each have a story of their own and the last 10-20% of the book just blew my mind.. I knew the secret what's HUGE.. But - OMG!! This is a great series, I could not put this book down, nor bk 1.. Now I want to read the next one.. Very excited to know what happens now..
Tyrant starts out not long after Stygian ends and because I had read that book so long ago I was worried that I wouldn’t remember. I am happy to say that as soon as I started this book, all of the memories came rushing back. I was able to immediately jump right back into this storyline without missing a beat! I felt like I was right there alongside this gang and everything that they had been through.
The most intriguing thing about this story as with the others, is that, each book isn’t solely focused on just one couple. I absolutely love that each book keeps building upon the original storyline, keeping the reader in close to contact with secondary characters and their relationships and/or potential relationships, wink, wink. Nashoda Rose is truly a remarkable author, she knows how to weave a story from conception and keeps it growing to new and higher levels with each book and it blows my mind. Her attention to detail, the way she throws in twists and turns, undeniable sexual chemistry and tensions, adds drama and angst and all the while never straying off the beaten path, I am in awe of her talent.
Kilter and Rayne were great characters. I loved that they both were guarded and yet, as a reader I was always in tune with their most intimate thoughts.Read more ›
