Enter this sweat-free ice pack from Kids Konserve! It really IS sweat free! No condensation forms on it and at most, when the whole ice pack is fully melted, it feels slightly damp on the outside, but it is regular condensation (just moisture from the air) with no slimy icky stuff. The ice pack inside has never leaked on us. My son's lunch bag stays dry, his food is no longer coated with icky stuff. When my son comes home, I just throw the ice pack back into the freezer and it is ready the next morning. If I forget it inside the lunch bag and find it in the morning, the ice pack has fully melted but the ice pack sleeve and everything inside the lunch bag is still dry dry dry.
There are only 2 small negatives. One, it is a little small, so if you need to keep your lunch bag really cold or cold for longer, you will need two ice packs. Two, whoever sold it to us through amazon slapped a really sticky sticker on the sleeve and the gum from the sticker never came off. Please, seller, stop putting stickers on these sleeves. It really ruins the product!
What I found was that the "sweet free ice pack" was actually sweating quite a lot(enough to get your hands wet)and it did not keep the food cold for more than 1.5-2.5h depending were I position the ice packs...I just tested it in the weekend to see how efficient it was.
I like the fact that the ice packs are narrow so I can put one on one side of the lunch bag and one on the back so I have the lunch box in between but even so, using 2 packs for a tiny insulated lunch bag, the food is pretty warm after 2h...
I love the design, the idea but it's not functional....I like the regular plastic ice packs better as they keep the food colder for longer(downside is that they are heavier and take more space...).
I will stick with these ones for school as the lunch time is within 3.5h from the time that I pack her lunch bag but for field trips I will definitely use the traditional plastic ice packs.
The best part about these ice packs is they are super slim and don't add a lot of bulk or weight. I put them on the bottom of my kids' lunch boxes and still have plenty of room to stack stuff on top of them. They will keep the whole lunch box cool for a while, but obviously whatever is closest to the pack stays the coldest longest. They are exactly what I wanted them to be.
I've used these in mission critical situations i..e my cell phone got super hot and i placed it on top of the kids konserve. phone did NOT get wet. Love it. I probably should have deducted a star for the ridiculous name. but let's not punish their marketing department. this product is practically revolutionary in it's category. excellent product, innovative feature (well...seems so to me). Five stars.
I decided to give them one more shot and buy some new ones as they are the perfect size for his lunch.
Please don't disappoint me.
