Product Description

UCTRONICS produces reliable PoE splitters to make micro USB devices “Power over Ethernet.” PoE splitter can save USB adapter wall plugs, extend powerline to where your Ethernet cable reaches, and make full use of extra PoE ports by converting them to micro USB. It’s a good companion for micro USB devices that needs Ethernet connection, or other micro USB devices that are away from the AC outlet. This item needs 802.3af compliant PoE Switches or injectors to work. The reviews and feedbacks from our users show that they have used PoE splitters on micro USB devices like:

  • Raspberry Pi
  • Amazon Ethernet Adapter for Amazon Fire TV Devices
  • ASUS Tinker Board
  • Wyze Cam v2
  • Arlo 2 Pro
  • Lutron hub
  • Amazon Cloud Camera
  • Chromecast
  • NanoPi
  • FingBox

As a Custom Tech Integrator, doing projects that require specialty converters and adapters is a routine necessity. After buying a competitors product that didn't work, it was great to find these, and have them work flawlessly for my custom application. Thank you, will certainly purchase more of these for future projects.

This adapter is perfect for a device that does not support POE power out of the box. This adapter is connected to a TPLINK travel router that I am using for all of my alexa IoT devices as those aren't really the best when ut comes to network security. The POE port that the device is using is on a separate Vlan on my switch and it has no issues providing network data as well as power over the Ethernet cable. All in all, works as described.

The only feature that could make this a full 5-star review would be if this had a 90-degree connector for the power wire. It looks wonky for both wires to be sticking straight out of adjoining sides of the Pi case. But it works well, it's a smart product for a niche use case. I bought 2, if they last a few months we'll get another 5 for the cluster.

Got this to use with a FireStick 4K and it works great. One ethernet line from my PoE switch to this, and then this plugs into the ethernet adapter on the FireStick, providing power and data to the adapter and FireStick. About a clean a set-up as you're gonna get.
Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2024
I took one for the team and tried this on a passive non-802.3 POE 24v common to Ubiquiti edgeswitches and unifi switches, figuring it can go in my parts box if it is a failed experiment, and that there might be some remote chance the input logic would accept and pass through incoming voltage to a simple buck converter that might still yield workable USB voltage, as this would be easy enough to build, and for ten bucks you have to wonder if its just a crude device. No soap, at 24v it puts out no voltage over USB. So now you know folks!

Works perfectly. My switch recognizes it as a class 3 PoE device, and typically consuming 3.1 to 3.5 watts of power. It plugged right into my pi (with a 3.5" display) and so far I have not found any problems.

The only thing I'd mention is there's no clear indication of which network connection faces the switch, and which faces the client device. I took a guess that with the male RJ45 and micro-usb cable being the same length, that was where the pi should go, and I was correct. (I include a picture of the "correct" manner of connecting it.)

If you have an existing Power over Ethernet (PoE) network, this device lets you connect USB-powered devices to it without needing a separate power supply.
I used it to add a wireless access point (WAP) to my network in a location that didn't have mains power available for a conventional USB power supply for the WAP.
No configuration needed, works straight out of the packet.
Quality is o.k. but nothing special.
No idea how durable it is, has only been in use for about a month.
No problems so far.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not compatible with Lutron or Aqara Hub.
Reviewed in Canada on May 15, 2024
Have tried 2 of these splitters thinking the first may have been defective since it didn't work with my Aqara hub either. The second splitter I received also did not work. Powers up unit but will not transfer data. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B08HS5FSFM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 this PoE splitter does work with both hubs though if you are looking one.
This splitter may be fine for other uses but since it states that "people have used it with the Lutron hub" which it may have in a past model it does not is the reason for 3 stars.
