There are no written accounts in these 371 pages of charts and graphs. Instead, the data is presented by geography and timing of the reported incidents, and by the various shapes that witnesses reported: flying circles, spheres, triangles, discs, ovals, cigars.
The authors' conclusion: many of the reports explainable, but a small group defies current explanation. Their primary interest here is disclosure: “We wanted to do our bit for disclosure. It’s something the government should have been doing.”
Fascinating stuff -- especially for this New Yorker, how many sightings have been reported from the five boroughs.

Quo vadis ? Should be followed by "Why There ?" and this book is you're best chance to answer that question !
While I am not a UFO buff, as a member of The International Fortean Organization I do spend a great deal of time looking at the available material and talking to MUFON friends and their guest speakers / experiencers. Most FortFests will have a decent number of Ufologists in attendance and I have attended some of their conferences. I have known the Costas for some time and admire their knowledge and skills.
Forteans are not big on "believing" . but we love good Data! And that is what is unique in this book, hard , shinny, usable data , compiled by professional team ideally suited to do it right . Military intelligence experience and library skills insure you are getting in right in readable form. 120,000 sightings collated in, as they put it, "Frequency - Distribution - Shape .
The forewords and FAQ pages are well written and quite witty , but the meat here is the sweat stained , hard won organization that went into making this book the best instrument for studying this bizarre phenomena in any sane fashion, that I have ever seen.
If you are a serious believer in UFOs , you need access to a copy of this book .
If you are a Fortean looking at cryptids or odd events in general you need to see the "Hot Spots of Paranormal activity" and how the relate to UFO sightings . The overlap may be astounding ! Good Hunting !
