I specifically got this to use with the OTG functionality for an android phone. I often like to take dashcam footage from the microsd, and use my cellphone to extract/upload the file. It is also nice to be able to upload raw files from a DSLR's SD card if your camera doesn't already have some sort of wifi built in. Since this card reader also doubles with a regular USB type A port, I also use it when I'm in front of a computer. The transfer speeds I've seen have been on par with the SD cards speeds I use (95MB/s read and 90MB/s write), so no issues there. Yes this guy is a little thick, but I mainly use the type C port with my phone.
Overall a nice compact dual purpose SD card reader.

This USB adapter fit my needs exactly.
It can connect to my laptop via USB 3 or via a type C port. It can also connect to my smartphone using the type C connection.
With my Sandisk Extreme Pro card, which has read speeds up to around 80mb/s, I got about 44mb/s with USB 3 and over 80mb/s when I connected via type C (thunderbolt 3). That's signicantly quicker than the read speeds I get from the SD card reader in my existing laptop.
Absolutely no problem connecting media to my phone either. Android showed a notification immediately and allowed me to copy files over.
A versatile accessory that I'll be using every day to transfer files from my cameras. Easy to recommend.
