This SD card reader really does use 3.0 speeds, or at least better speeds than my other readers. I tested a cheap no-name reader and one from the Walmart brand Onn, and both hit 30 MB/s in this benchmark, but this reader reached 90; triple speed in sequential read-write. So, for moving big videos, its 3x better. Not so much for lots of pictures, code or text. My only complaint is the Micro SD card slot is kind of stiff and crunchy; I wasn't sure I had it the right way around at first. But that's immaterial compared to the speed.

This is a great adapter, and works very fast on a 3.0 port. I found it except in all the cards that I had, no matter what the format. It is very sturdy, yet not much larger than a standard flash drive. This is a must-have for anything but either needs to transfer around SD cards and like

Pros:
its compact about the size of an average flash drive.
It has many inputs and accepts any format I threw at it.
It runs very fast on a 3.0. When I used it with fast access card it took full advantage of the car and ran at 80 MB a second. I tried a faster card and did the same.

Cons:
For me I found these micro-ST cards were not clear what direction they were supposed to go in. That's an easy fix simply flip it upside down and put it back in. Hardly a con but I had mentioned it just in case someone is trying to the card in and doesn't think it fits. This also may be because I have several adapters and depending on what the markings are and the names of the adapters depend on what is top what is bottom and depends on which way your USB slot is facing. So this is not a con was is something I ran into myself

.I highly recommend this card adapter. I've used it many times and no problems whatsoever it's very sturdy

Before upgrading to this SD card reader docking port I've had the stock adapter's that would come with all of the SD cards I've purchased in time. This docking station goes directly into your USB in most computer or laptops. It has dramatically increased transfer speeds with my SD cards , mini & regular sized. For the computers and laptops that do not already have card readers installed, this is a great EDC to a camera operator or digital file horder. It will prompt a file location as a drive on your computer or laptop. You can simply either copy & paste the files from the card(s) how you usually would a file on your platform/OS; Or you can click & drag photos/files/videos ect from the file/folder pop up either on your desktop or by searching your computer. Copying & pasting the files from the cards to the laptop/comp does not mean the photos/vids/files have been deleted from the SD card(s) to give you more space. You will have to manually delete the files once you have transferred them unless you'd prefer to keep them on the card as well for back up. By using an SD card you have far less moving parts than in an external hard drive. There are many levels on purchasing SD cards as for speed ratios. Be mindful of the speed rating on your SD cards as they will not be able to transfer faster than rated. Good thing SD cards are so much less expensive than just a couple years ago. They are compact as this hub is. I've washed SD cards before and dried them as well with high efficiency washer and dryer on accident & the cards still work fine. It's impressive what these can store as well rugged portability. I recommend SD and a good hub over external hard drives any day. The key is buying from a reputable seller/company so you are not sold a possible defective card or transfer USB port. This seller/company & port are a must have for myself.

I bought this to replace another brand’s SD-card-only reader which I’d been using for quite a few years that somehow got damaged so it doesn’t work any more—who knew a passive reader could go bad? I find using a card reader is more efficient for transferring gigabytes of photos from my camera to my PC than connecting the camera itself to my PC.

I like that this reader also accepts TF cards which is only what my tablet uses. Now I have a simple alternative for transferring files between my tablet and my PC.

Cards can be inserted into their slots on the side of the reader only one way. Very tiny icons show which direction the card’s notch goes (left for SD, right for TF when the reader’s UGreen logo is up), but I’ve quickly learned the proper orientation so I don’t have to squint any more.

The marketing description for the reader touts the protective cover for the USB prong yet the card slots remain open to dust/dirt. Maybe that’s not a problem. I’m skeptical, however, but luckily I only use the reader occasionally at home to download photos off my camera and the packaging for the reader is reusable so I can store the reader back in the protective packaging until I need it again. The packaging takes up little extra space—just adds a flat piece of cardboard—and actually makes it easier to keep track of the reader.

It does exactly what I need it to. I had heard some alarming issues, possibly faulty products that shouldn't have left the factory's QA check, but I've had no issues myself. Some claimed that it overheated and even burned up, but mine has never gotten hot, so I imagine they need to take a good look at their PC and where they're plugging it in.

I typically don't leave it in too long as a precaution, but the few times I've left it in for hours or used it for a while, it has had no complications. It is exactly what you would expect it to be and it does its job exactly as I need it to.

I have been using UGREEN products for many years. They are one of the big names across the Amazon platform, and if I need a product, I check for UGREEN first as I know they are professionals in what they do. This card reader is no exception. Very easy to use, plug and play. A good fit for the cards. I use this for my 4K video and photos I shoot on my Lumix G7, and 128GB SD cards. It never skips a beat.

Every now and then you are going to get a bad unit. Out of the 10s of 1000s of products they make its inevitable. As for sending the items back, lets just say you don't even need to leave your house to get a refund on anything they sell.
