About the author

I'm passionate about Romance. I write about real people with real struggles, temptations, and desires. My characters often have difficult choices to make - and don't always make the right ones. My stories are not what you expect, and everything you want.
God has blessed me with a wonderful husband and three dynamic children, all of whom are destined to make wide, colorful splashes in this world. We share our New Jersey home with two dogs. I have no hobbies to speak of unless you include writing. I don't.

Just like Jett, Sebastian, and Aaro, Ulrick was the perfect scarred, alpha hero that you can't help but swoon over and I loved Loria. I think of all the female leads that Dana has written about, I connected to her more than others. She was just... real.
Truthfully, I was more than a little disappointed when the book was over and think I am suffering from withdrawals already. I think I might have to go back and reread them all in succession now. Dana is on my MUST buy list and I can't wait to see what she releases next!
Ulrick was much more than a romance. There was a little bit of intrigue and suspense that had me turning the pages at lightening speed. Of course all my favorite characters made an appearance and I fell in love with them all over again.
My favorite scene is towards the end of the book because it reminds me of Luke 19:40. If you love the Paranormal you will love this story and the characters will become you best friends. This book, this series will always have a special place in my heart. I'm team Ulrick and team Jett.
Thank you Dana for writing on this so well.
"Ulrick" starts out slow as Loria struggles to figure out what anyone who read the first three books already knows. I'm giving it four stars for the romance and for the same reason I rated "Sebastian" four stars. I never really connected with Urlick, and I didn't like Loria at first. She comes across as one of those people who gets a pain, runs to WebMD, and thinks she's dying of some horrendous disease. An incubus? Really? But she comes out pretty much okay – other than making the same, sad mistake Haven, Natalie, and Darcy all make. You don't marry a partner who respects your values; you marry someone who SHARES your values, something that neither Jett, Sebastian, Aaro, or Ulrick do.
But I ranted enough about Pratola's double standard in my review of "Aaro."
The problem with this story was I couldn't sympathize with the antagonist. A villain may be pure evil, but what he does must make sense on a human level. He has to be identifiable. I don't have to like the antagonist, but I have to understand what makes him tick, and Montclair Helmore is just insane. He does what he does because he's insane, which is the weakest of motivations because in trying to explain everything, it fails to explain anything.
And to learn a Descended can MURDER his one and only? That's just sick, especially with how Jett justifies breaking his promise to Haven. The fact that he never said "yes" verbally means he didn't actually agree? And the fact that Haven THINKS he agreed counts for nothing? I'm going to pretend I never read that. I'm going back to my illusion that Jett is an honorable person, truly repentant of his sins and faithful to both his God and his wife. Then I can enjoy the first book in blissful ignorance again.
