Let me start with saying that this phone, just like the F1, is an excellent buy for the money. So I will skip on F1 features, you can read it in reviews. In spite of my rating, I still recommend this phone.
I am just not sure i would recommend it over F1.
We happen to have Umidigi phones Z2 SE, F1 and now it's F1 play. Excellent budget phones, any of them.
As it happens at the moment, for some $20..$30 difference between F1 and F1 Play, you get 6Gb ram plus supposedly an incrementally better Samsung M1 chip with 48Mp. An excellent bargain.
However, i expected more from the camera upgrade. Here on the pictures, i have F1 play 100% 48mp center frame crop, followed by 16mp 100% center crop of F1. Sure, with Samsung M1 you get more pixels. I am just not convinced i get better pixels. In fact, i think I prefer the F1 camera for stills.
There's no more details at F1 48mp version. Note that this is a well-lit scene, so there can be no low light noise excuse for lack of details. Also note the "jagged" edge of the garden pot as if we are looking at blown out pixels, not actual pixels. This points to actual effective resolution of 12mp.
Also, notice huge, 1-2px wide thick oversharpened artifacts on the Play version vs F1 version. The more i look at those, the more i prefer the F1 16mp camera. I think F1 16mp is true native resolution; and F1 play's true native resolution is 12mp. I also did comparison to my older Samsung Note 4 camera which is also 16mp (5 years difference between introduction, mind you) and found that F1 camera is almost like Note 4's (aside from lack of 4k video of course). I might have a hard time figuring which picture is which, given the same scene; but i think i wouldn't have any trouble distinguishing between F1 play shot and Note 4's, given the nightmarish postprocessing of the Play version.
Dynamic range is very similar. Note the blown details on the box in both cases.
And if I want to step down the resolution on play, I only get 12mp vs. 16mp of the F1. There's nothing in between 12 and 48 mp.
Video mode is the same on both F1 and F1 play. Still no 4k, and open camera's "force 4k UHD" doesn't work either.
Bottom line, with F1 play, not only you get a larger file ready to clog your cloud without any more information, but also you get some postprocessing issues. Hence, 48mp is totally a marketing gimmick. The camera is actually a step down compared to the F1's, not up. If you want a modest RAM increase, you can buy this one vs. F1, but my advice is don't buy it because you think it would be a better camera -- it isn't.

Camera is not an improvement over F1 (without play)

Ich brauchte ein Zweithandy und wollte dafür keine Unmenge an Geld ausgeben. Da ich Gutes über dieses Handy gehört hatte, beschloss ich, es mal zu probieren. Bislang wurde ich auch nicht enttäuscht. Dazu habe ich auch ein Video aufgenommen, welches ich bald hochladen werde.

Nun zu einer detailreicheren Rezension:
► Lieferumfang

► Erster Eindruck und Verarbeitung
Die Rückseite des Smartphones ist matt und aus Kunststoff. Es fühlt sich dennoch hochwertig an, was mich in der Preisklasse eigentlich überrascht. Die Kameras hinten stehen nur ein wenig ab, das stört mich nicht so sehr. Da kenne ich einige Handys die in einer ganz anderen (hohen) Preiskategorie sind und bei denen die Kamera sehr weit weg steht.
Das seitlichen Bedientasten (Lautstärke, Einschalttaste) geben gutes haptisches Feedback und klappern nicht.
Das mitgelieferte Kabel sticht durch seine rote Farbe hervor, die Verarbeitung ist nichts besonderes und im Durchschnitt. Gleiches gilt auch für das Netzteil.
Die mitgelieferte Hülle (dickes PLUS!) ist absolut in Ordnung verarbeitet und sieht auch noch gut aus.
► Einrichtung und Installation
Wie bei allen anderen Android Handys, gestaltet sich die Installation bzw. Inbetriebnahme auch bei diesem hier nicht viel anders als beim Rest. Einfach den Anweisungen auf dem Display folgen und im Nu ist das Handy eingerichtet. Ab Werk hatte ich übrigens um die 80 Prozent Akku.
► Kamera
Auf der Rückseite sind 2 Kameras verbaut. Die Haupt - Kamera hat eine Auflösung von 48 Megapixel und die zweite 8 Megapixel. Wie anhand der beigefügten Bilder zu sehen ist, macht die Kamera absolut akzeptable Fotos. Gerade bei guten Lichtverhältnissen kann sie gut mit viel teureren Handys mithalten. Einzig bei schwächeren Lichtverhältnissen kommt es zum Bildrauschen. Das gleiche gilt auch für Videos.
Die Selfie Kamera reicht für Selfies in guten Lichtverhältnissen absolut aus. Auch hier kommt es in dunkleren Situationen zu Bildrauschen.
► Performance
Hierzu muss ich gleich vorweg anmerken: Ich bezeichne mich absolut nicht als Power User. Ich zocke mit Handys nicht und benötige nicht jedes Tröpfchen an Leistung. Apps öffnen sich sehr schnell, Videos (Youtube etc.) werden ohne Ruckler abgespielt. Sonst läuft alles rund - auch verglichen mit teureren Markenartikeln.
► Display
Ohne genau auf die Auflösung einzugehen, kann ich bestätigen, dass Apps und Fotos sehr gut angezeigt werden, ohne jegliche Verpixelung. Und das, obwohl das Display ziemlich groß ist. Natürlich kann es nicht mit Handys verglichen werden, die eine viel höhere Auflösung haben - aber die sind meist auch drei bis vierfah so teuer. Eine einzige Sache fehlt mir: OLED als Panel. Das findet sich jedoch auch nur in einer höheren Preiskategorie (außer bei Samsung, die die Dinger ja auch selbst produzieren).
► Akku
Der Akku ist in Ordnung, sowohl von seiner Dimension, als auch von einer Laufzeit her. Er hält bei moderater Nutzung einen Tag. Mir reicht es jedenfalls.
