I REALLY wanted to like this light, but...

(Review for Unifun 45w grow light.) I was excited to get this a year ago and have used it for two years now for starting tomato plants inside ahead of the season. I was satisfied with the quality of the setup, and all the lights worked as they should. I made a frame to hang it at the proper height.Both years, after a few weeks, my tomato leaves began to shrivel up and dry out. For one thing, I think the brightness output is inadequate because both years, my plants have been very tall, as if reaching for the weak light. Last year, I noticed the shriveling and was about ready to put them out in the garden anyway, so I did and they recovered OK. I then reached out to the manufacturer about what distance to place the lights and was told 12-18". Both years, I ran them for about 12 hours per day.This year, I extended my frame so that the light was 24" away to be on the safe side, and again, the tall, reaching plants. Seeing this, I put the light unit about 16" away and within a few days, the leaves began to curl up and dry out even though the plants were well watered. I can only conclude that for some reason, the light is burning the plants. I don't know if the spectrum is way off or what. There is definitely NOT a lot of heat coming from the unit. Again, time to put the plants out in the garden.And just noticed that 2 of the blue LEDs are burned out. So it begins.I can't recommend these, pretty disappointed.
