The one star rating is more of a reflection of the seller, Kastonecorp. I orded this unit because it uses the 2100Mhz 3g band, which is the 3g band I encounter most in my travels. This listing clearly states the unit is unlocked. The unit I received was NOT unlocked! It came with a Vodafone branded user manual. I'm guessing it was locked to Vodafone but I can't say for sure, I didn't have a Vodafone SIM to try. Luckily unlocking a Huawei 3g wifi modem is fairly easy and well documented on the internet. Once unlocked it worked as advertised. I never had to do any configuration, all I needed to do was insert a SIM and it just worked, obviously that is a YMMV situation. If you're tech savvy and willing to do some work to get the unit working the price is right. If not, keep looking for a unit sold by a different seller.

Besides the battery seeming to run out rather fast, maybe because I will be using it heavily, this product seems to work very well. I have used it in two African countries during trips there and it was wonderful. Reception is fast, it has been easy to use and so far I did not need to do any setting up. All that I needed was to insert a sim card that enables data and then switch it on and I was in business. The only slight problem, and it is not really a big issue is to open the back to insert or remove a sim card. The back cover is not easy to remove. The good thing is that I don't need to remove it too often, a positive aspect of not being able to remove it too easily is that things don't fall apart. I store username and password on a piece of paper meaning that I never really have to open the back to find these everytime. I have also been able to use this item with other people simultaneously. I have also used this item in moving car which was going at 120 km/h. So it really worked wonderfully for me and I would recommend it. I just wonder whether a replacement battery will be easy to find if I ever need to replace on.

I would it again with no hesitation.

The device is unable to establish a data connection with a t-mobile prepaid sim card. The user manual is only available online and only in Japanese, provided by Docomo, a Japanese cell phone provider - so there is no way to change the configuration.

There is a Docomo web login when you go to 192.168.1.1 after connecting to the device via wifi, but the default user name and password are not documented anywhere and could not be found via Google either.

I recommend you buy this device only if you plan to use it in Japan or if you have a lot of time for playing around with it to figure things out.

The product itself is great and operates exactly as described. You just need to take care that you should carry the charger in order to recharge the battery when needed (but battery life is overall good). What is really special is the service level. While opening the package, the battery dropped by mistake in the house, and I thought that the product was shipped without the battery. When I sent to the seller that the product was shipped without the battery, they offered a full refund. I truly respect this amaizing level of service.. these guys really care about the after-sales service, even though it was my mistake. I refunded back the product cost, and I am happy using this great product while writing this mail. Thank you!

I am enjoying the device however there was no charger in the pack yet it was stated as part of the content of the package. it came with only one usb cord yet it said there were 2 cords on the leaflet. I was unhappy about that but in all I guess am happy with the device as it meets my requirement.

I bought this in preparation for my trip. Prior to ordering the item I didn't check the estimated time of arrival of the gadget. Its only a day after that I found out that estimated time of delivery would be later than my departure. SO I decided to cancel my order the day after but the seller has already sent the item for delivery. He just instructed me to have somebody receive it (if im not around) and return the item once it arrive at my home. Bummer!
All that I could hope that time was that it will arrive prior to my travel. By the way they ship it from HK.
It was an answered prayer because it indeed arrive earlier than expected. Seventeen days before the estimated time of arrival to think it comes all the way from HK.

I never had any problems setting it up. Battery even lasted for 4 hours no stop.Got two gadgets attached to it (laptop and iphone). But what I have noticed is that battery life can be longer if you don't frequently turn on and off the gadget. Ironic but thats what I observed.

Another major concern for me is that, THIS GADGET RESTARTS on its own. So sometimes when I'm streaming a show using dvdxen, putlocker etc. and all of the sudden the gadget restarts. Crap! I have to start all over again. Anybody who have encountered same problems? Hope you can help me. Without this flaw this gadget is superb !
