The UP! Plus 2 3D desktop printer has an open frame, all-metal white chassis and fabricates objects using 1.75 mm ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) or PLA (polylactic acid) thermoplastic filament (sold separately), with a vertical resolution from 150 to 400 microns (0.15 to 0.40 mm). The printer can build objects to maximum dimensions of 5.3 x 5.5 x 5.5 inches/135 x 140 x 140 mm (H x W x D). The included printer management software runs on a Windows or Mac OS X computer, reads Standard Tessellation Language (STL) files generated by computer-aided design (CAD) software (sold separately), and commands the printer through the provided USB cable. An included platform-level calibration device can be used with the software to help ensure a level build surface. The software can also read the included nozzle-height detection device to calibrate the nozzle's vertical position for accurate operation.

The extruder has a heat and wind shield that helps prevent injury, and redirects air to help cool the material for a fine finish. A metal build platform heats to 105 degrees C to help provide thermal stability. A perforated cell board fastens to the platform by spring clips for a secure fabrication base. Solid metal guide rails and precision slide bearings help ensure precise movement. The belt-driven stepper motors meet the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) standard ICS 16-2001.

This is my first 3D printer. I have used professional 3D printing services in the past and paid ten times the cost of this printer, just for the parts I had printed. The accuracy and quality of the ABS prints from this Up Plus 2 printer are simply amazing. All the documentation and software are available online as downloads, which is nice. I printed out the 57 page manual and studied it carefully before using the printer. The instructions are fairly well done, yet not exactly in step by step format. It took a good hour of reading and contemplating before I had the nerve to click "Print". Everything worked beautifully and I made a couple stunning first parts. I'm blown away by the value of this technology for the technical design trades. The best invention since the pencil.

as an engineer I am always designing or refining various objects. After the design is finished, its drawn up by a draftsman and then submitted to manufacturers for bids. Now the 3d printer allows some of that to be done in house. The cost of having these mockups and prototypes can be enormous, and now can be done on 3d printer. However sending it out to be done is also very expensive. I have been able to use this printer and have easily saved MORE than I paid for it. So==its free at this point.

These printers done really "print" if you think of paper and ink. They actually use the (plastic) string and melt it where it goes into a nozzle that forms the design you are sending to the printer. Little by little, more of this material is added until the object is completed.

UP! has an outstanding reputation for making the best or some of the best 3d printers. This printer is an open frame, all-metal white chassis and fabricates objects using 1.75 mm ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) or PLA (polylactic acid) thermoplastic filament (sold separately), with a vertical resolution from 150 to 400 microns (0.15 to 0.40 mm). The printer can build objects to maximum dimensions of 5.3 x 5.5 x 5.5 inches/135 x 140 x 140 mm (H x W x D).

The included printer management software runs on a Windows or Mac OS X computer, reads Standard Tessellation Language (STL) files generated by computer-aided design (CAD) software (sold separately), connects by means of a simple, and inexpensive USB cable. Any software the uses the STL format will work.

All necessary cables and software, as well as a calibration gauge (to insure level setup) is included (horizontal) . The software calibrates the nozzle height and calibrates it for vertical

I can tell you that this price point of printer rarely come with the autocalibration. That is a very nice feature and saves a tremendous amount of time.

ONE COMPLAINT:

I would like to see this glass given to buyers. Its 20$ and makes life so much easier vs the perforated board that is currently used (on the print surface). Octave Borosilicate glass platform for Afinia and UP! 3D Printers
If you do get one, do yourself a favor and buy that glass for 20$. You will thank me later.

I have been using this printer now for several months and just got my second one. I am excited about this technology and wholeheartedly recommend this product. Its easy to setup, the manual is about 57 pages and is written in very clear and concise terms. I hope this information helps.

received printer in perfect condition
packed very well
very easy setup except that loading the
printer driver needs to be explained better
once driver is loaded it worked perfect
the manufacurer should supply a glass for print surface
this works much better than the perf board
The glass board can be purchased here on amazon thru Octave
The really exceptional feature of this printer
are the auto level which I do not see with any other
machines at this level, this feature saves a lot of time
and headache. I have used this printer since October
Have printed many many parts. I am printing proprietary
parts for my business for sale here on amazon
I redesigned the filiment spool holder and it works much better
for Octave and Gizmo dorks material
It repeats perfect parts every time, have had very little trouble
once I got used to the printer, I printed for days without re-leveling
or resetting nozzel height. I checked to see if they were coming out
with a dual extruder model, but they have no plans for that rite now
so I purchased one elsewhere. I have extensive cad experience so I
have no problem designing parts that need no raft or support material
I would recommend this printer

I Have had this printer for a few years now and basically it is a good printer but the nozzle temp needs to be controlled, as it is to hot.
Also the spool spindle is not good, occasionaly the filament gets caught and jams the printer, and I made my own design of that rite away and the one I have works prefect
Then the real problem is that when you need replacement part Tiertime is not very helpful you are pretty much on your own
I do not use there automatic leveling as I use glass and you can not use it then

It is followed by reviewing the manual.
However, Platform are stopped if the Auto Level.
