now why I rate it 2 of 5 stars. The STRAP keeps falling constantly especially on one of the fin. But both fall like clockwork... which render my vacation time down into repair time having to insert the straps over shallow reefs oven with sharp object in close proximity. NO Straps, no fins, Zero-usefulness.
IS IT ASKING too much to design an strap that does not slip-out with 10 min of swimming?!
I got the Tusa in blue and they were cute so I wore them on the first day, and they were just OK in feel but did aggravate my ankles somewhat. I was not sure I could snorkel as far the second day, but I switched to the US Divers fins and had no problems, a definite difference compared to the Tusa, and the kick felt much better and propelled further. I used the US Divers the rest of our trip and was very happy with them. They did not aggravate my feet and ankles and they had a good kick. Compared to my full length split fins, the kick had less power but on the other hand, the US Divers put less stress on my feet and ankles. And being shorter and lighter was a bonus for packing in a suitcase.
One day on the trip, I did forget my neoprene socks and wore the US Divers fins without the socks. They did rub on one of my toes, so I'd have to recommend using them with some sort of sock or booty.
The only reason I can't give them 5 stars is because the heel strap was somewhat unreliable. The heel strap slips through a clip, which snaps into the fin. At one point, the strap slipped off the clip, and I ended up having to swim back to shore with only one fin while holding the other against my chest. It was tricky enough to slip back in place while on land. It would have been downright impossible while treading water in the middle of the ocean. After this experience, I learned to keep the strap centered on my heel and would occasionally tighten it while in the water. This seemed to prevent the issue from reoccurring.
