The actual cable was imprinted with "Ningbo Linsheng Electrical Co.".
The cable did not come with the expected product packaging stating "US Wire & Cable", only the cable with shrink-wrap.
The female connector was very loose, and could not be tightened, which is a sign of an inferior product.
I had to buy a short extension adapter, to make the cable usable, to prevent it from continually falling out of any tool connector.
(Cost of return shipping made it cost ineffective to request a refund.)
I checked online that Ningbo Linsheng is a real Chinese manufacturer, and the cable did include UL labels, so I hope the cord is safe.
But it appears falsely advertised and sold under the "US Wire & Cable" branded listing.
Big Deals, Inc. and the listing said that some US Wire products are now made in China, but I suspect that disclaimer only gives them cover to sell any Chinese knockoff. Lack of any "US Wire" brand labeling leaves doubt.
When I originally purchased this 25 foot cord (for the fantastic price of $19.00) 7 months ago), I read all the reviews looking for the "catch". Most of the negative comments were related to country of origin, which I didn't find helpful. A few mentioned burnt up contacts in the female lighted end. From experience I wrote these off to "'operator error" (allowing a plug to arc by plunging in live loads). Others complained of the cord being too stiff in the cold. I live in Florida, not an issue. Some complained about the weight, which is laughable, but there was one review that caught my eye. The complaint was that the cord had pulled out of the molded on (female) end. The reviewer had even include a photo of the problem.
I've come back to these reviews looking for that particular review and photo but it doesn't seem to be here any more, so I'm uploading one of my own. This is how my cord looks after 7 months of light use by a carpenter. I own many cords and this one was reserved for "clean" work inside of finished homes. The product description here mentions a lifetime warranty, I've been to their website and there is no mention of one.
I tested it and having the red light is awesome, especially if you are 100 ft away! But the first thing I noticed is this cord is heavy, its about 12-13 lbs which for an extension cord is noticeable. I like that, it feels like a very high quality. I tested it with a corded saw and noticed no loss in power. For the money have a 12 gauge is perfect for all extended needs. I bought a thing to real it up so I can use it for anything around my house instead of a 10ft here and a 25 ft there.

Most residential wiring is done with 12 gauge wire on 20 amp breakers.
Most extension cords can't accommodate or approximate that amount of current.
Ergo, a 16 gauge extension cord or a 18 gauge extension cord can burn up without necessarily complaining enough to trip the breaker. Sure - they can still pop the breaker for a dead short. But, they will heat up and brown out your load - if the load is pulled the rated current of the breaker.
All extension cords drop some degree of voltage - tending towards a brown out.
All universal AC motors run on a VA proportion. Where V is voltage and A is amperage. Thru the magic of electro-magnetic fields the motor wants to keep the wattage rating constant. As the voltage goes down - the current goes up.
So, an extension cord that dissipates voltage will suffer higher current to make up the difference to the motor it is supplying power to. The current squared times the resistance is where the heat comes in to it. The extension cord is long with lots of surface area. The extension cord - usually - only warms up. The appliance with the motor concentrates that heat into the brushes in the motor and the wiring in to motor in a much smaller area, which can't dump the heat. Ergo, running a motor on an under-rated extension cord will burn up the motor - faster.
So, using a larger current capacity extension cord will keep your AC-Motor driven tools operating longer.
