I added this to a Chromebox I converted to run Kodi. The IR receiver was detected easily and works well with my Harmony remote. It would work well with just about any IR remote, as this model is well-supported in Linux. It was very inexpensive and an easy add to any home-built media center project. I am not using it under Windows, but the driver this uses is very common and should work out-of-the-box with most remotes intended for Windows Media Center.

Took several tries to for Windows 10 to recognize and install drivers. Even then, it only controls power and won't recognize any other buttons. It also frequently will have errors after restarting or waking from sleep (device manager says it cannot start the device) and has to be removed and reinstalled. This might technically be compatible with 10 because it does appear to have drivers but don't expect it to actually be able to work with Windows 10.

I just received my order and within minutes had total functionality using my Harmony Ultimate One. Everyone is correct in the detail that device drivers are automatically installed. I am using Windows 8.1 on an Asus rig and installation was a breeze. I followed the advice of a previous post and set it up from a generic standpoint. Using the native Harmony software, I set Microsoft as the manufacturer and set Media Center PC as the model. That's it, full control of JRiver Media Center software. Great product. The seller did a good job getting the item to me promptly. Thanks.

this is what it says it is, that being said its not very useful for most intents...and there are better items (flirc) that you can use....would not buy again or recommend.

There's not much to say about an IR receiver really. It works and does it's job fairly well. My only real gripe about it: every time a remote is used, a bright red light shines from it for a few seconds. So annoying. I'd much rather it do it's job with out shining a light back.

I bought this for a Windows 8.1 HTPC and for applications it can control a remote is definitely the most convenient. NextPVR seems to work pretty well out of the box. I do have problems with a Logitech Harmony 700 remote and having to press some keys (e.g. stop) several times. Many other keys are rock solid. I understand this has to do with Microsoft debouncing but that turning it off in the Win8 registry causes as many problems as it solves. I have not actually tried it.

If you use a Logitech remote you may be interested in the following devices. There are new keys on each of them. The Alt-Ctrl-xxx keys in Hotkeys are especially useful for launching applications (shortcut on desktop with keyboard shortcut added under properties).

Works great with my Logitech harmony 650 on windows vista. Plug and play! Let's me wake from sleep, and go back to sleep, and run any other MCE remote command you assign. It's so nice not having to use a keyboard anymore for play/pause etc, it's so much more intuitive. Red Led blinks on unit when it recieves a command, my only wish is that was optional, but it's such a minor thing I'm still giving it 5 stars!

Shipped to me loose in box with no packing slip. Wouldn't interface with my computer. Tried three different pieces of IR interface software, none would even recognize this dongle.
