My laptop only has 4 USB ports (one an eSATA/USB combo) but I was wanting to have a wireless mouse, midi keyboard, iLok dongle, usb flash drive, usb backup hard-drive and and an eSATA RAID setup plugged in in an organized manner. First off, do not plug anything that needs higher throughput into this. (hard-drives do not work well through any usb hub) The midi keyboard, mouse, ilok and flash drive all worked fine through this and it left a few ports spare on my laptop. One note: the included cable from the hub to the computer was fairly short. I had my laptop on an angled stand and hid the hub underneath that. Readyboost on flash drives did not work through this hub though so keep that in mind.

Overall, this item is a great value.

If your used to the "made in china" type of product, then no big surprises here. It seems a little flimsy, like when you plug a USB cord into it it feels like it's gonna break (and might in the near future). I also tried some of my peripherals with it and it doesn't seem any faster or better than my old (7yr old UN-powered)USB hub. But since I was being a cheapskate, I think I got what I paid for and have little room to complain. Just wanted to give others a "heads up" as to what they're getting.
In my opinion we may see these in "dollar" stores soon.

Intended to use this with my gigabit ethernet router to expand storage at the same time as acting as a network print server (only one USB port on the router).

`dmesg` reported that the USB flash drive would perform better with a high-speed hub. Sure enough, it was MUCH faster when plugged directly into the router.

Just to be sure, I attached the hub directly to my Windows 7 desktop computer, which also reports it as a full-speed hub.

I have no use for a full-speed hub, and contacted the seller. They started a refund immediately and without hassle.

This product has obvious problems. It will randomly disconnect and then my computer will warn me that it is not a USB 2.0 device. I take that as a huge red flag. Go ahead and spend a bit more money on something you can trust. Two stars because I should have known it wouldn't work well for the price I was paying.

Don't waste your time in buying this, it doesn't work. It only cost me $6.30 dollars and the item cost .31 cents, so it was all shipping. I could only plug 1 item in it and it used very little power. If I plugged anything else into to it, it wouldn't work. Bite the bullet and buy the more expensive ones that work.

This hub is useful to connect multiple drives to a computer, but it does not does not charge Apple products (iPhone, iPod, etc.), but it does charge other electronics.

However, it is light (not necessarily a good thing, because the components are probably not great) and small, and it is worth it for the price.

Its transfer speeds are not very fast, but they vary based on the device.

It comes with a short power cable and a standard USB 2.0 cable.

This powered USB hub could not provide sufficient power to power any of my USB hard drives with the smallest being 250 gig. I tried to use it to power my Raspberry Pi instead but it was not able to power once the OS kicked in (Raspbian or Raspbmc) it with or with out the hub plugged into my laptop. Works fine for powering my wireless keyboard/mouse combo, blue tooth adapter and and 16 gig thumb drive to my Pi - but I bought the B+ so USB ports are not the problem - being able to power a USB hard drive was. I would NOT recommend this for anyone looking to be able to power a removable hard drive. Very odd that my laptop can power my hard drives just fine with just a USB port and a USB hub that plugs into the wall can not.

The device is recognized as a USB 2.0 device by Windows XP. Unfortunately, NOTHING I plugged into it was recognized. This includes 2 Duracell memory sticks, a Phillips Songbird MP3 player, and an Epson WF-2530 printer. All of these devices work when connected directly to the computer, but this hub fails - on all seven ports. It's not even worth returning.
