It's ok, could be better, could be worse

funny how I am using the device to type this review.... it works! However, I could not play video games with the keyboard. the device seems to not let you hold down more that one key, so it was impossible for me to use the arrow keys and hit another key at the same time since it would "forget" that i was still holding onto the arrow key to move the character so the character would all of the sudden stop moving.
In short, it is good for typing, not good for video games that require you to hold down more than one key at a time.
I did not test the mouse since i didn't need that part.

Only One Problem

I use this every day to connect my PS/2 keyboard and mouse to my laptop's USB. The only problem is that the first key that I hit after booting up always comes out as gobbledeegook. However, once the cache or whatever is cleared it works great the rest of the day.

no problems with it

I've tested it with IBM, HP, and Unicomp keyboards, and a few older mice. It works with all of those, with both of my computers (Thinkpad running Linux, and Dell Inspiron running Windows XP). No setup was needed or anything, just as with a regular USB keyboard or mouse.

PS/2 ports aren't supposed to be hot-swappable, so it is better to connect the keyboard and mouse to the cable before connecting the cable to the computer. Otherwise there's a chance it may not work and could damage something. Possibly that is why some were not able to get it to work, as no instructions came with the cable or anything.

Functional, but limiting

The adapter works. That's about the best thing I can say about it. With it, my keyboard can type, but every other feature is disabled. No media buttons, no volume control, no internet navigation, nada. The price is really hard to beat. I bought another one from a retail store in my area for about $18 (like 3 times the price of this one) and bought this one so I could save money and return the other. Turns out, all the extras don't work with this one and they do with the expensive one. Summary, this adapter marginally functions in a pinch, but won't make your eyes sparkle.

Does not work

I have a Kinesis ps/2 contoured keyboard, which is admittedly a little unusual, but another adapter I have works fine. This one does not work at all. At least it's cheap enough that trying didn't cost much.

Doesn't work consistently

It was only a few bucks. I guess you get what you pay for. It routinely loses mouse control and the keyboard sometimes spits out gibberish. I've used the mouse and keyboard with other machines. They work fine. It's the adapter. If you unplug it from the USB port and plug it back in it works fine again; however, that's a real pain to do several times a day.

Solved my Problem

As a writer, I've always loved using the classic IBM keyboards. When I received a new computer for Christmas, it did not have PS/2 inputs so was forced to use the USB keyboard that came with the computer. I could only take it so long. I bought an PS/2 to USB adapter locally that did not work, then found out I needed a converter cable as older keyboard have power issues. I bought this one for 3 cents and $2.99 shipping and it worked right out of the box. It is still working otherwise you would not be reading this review. A great deal for sure. Quick turnaround time also.

It works! Was a bit hesitant because the "price was too low". I attached the adapter to the USB 2.x port on my Dell work PC docking station (Dell Latitude D630). My objective: be able to use an old Logitech YRB6 wireless keyboard with this PC. That was back when Logitech wasn't yet producing throwaway keyboards.

After connecting the Logitech receiver to the adapter and then pressing the paring buttons on the keyboard and adapter, sweet magic occurred and the keyboard worked like a charm. The function buttons on the top of the keyboard like for volume and muting and email and browsers don't work. The sleep button works tho. And I couldn't care less... never used those buttons much anyway.

I recommend you try this product before spending more dough unnecessarilly.

My level of tech savvy is high.... but wasn't at all needed for this painless operation.

Note to Logitech.... stop selling crap, remember your past.
