Beware of sellers: quality varies greatly

I wish I could write two reviews with 2 separate ratings for different sellers, as quality varies between them quite a bit. My rating is a cross between the 5-star quality of a first batch (from seller Quality on Time) and a 2-star (being generous) rating for the second batch (seller Simply Beautiful). The Quality on time turmeric looked pretty much like in the listing photo: clean, plump, and is still good after 4+ weeks in an open plastic bag in my fridge (the photo of about 13 pieces of orangey turmeric, which I just took this morning, after 4+ weeks).. The Simply Beautiful turmeric is very dirty and smells like dirt. Contains many shriveled, dried pieces, and pieces too small to use (after peeling the dirty skin off, there would be nothing left). And there's a rock in the batch! I doubt I'll be able to use even half of it.

I was a bit anxious about ordering fresh turmeric online! The product was FABULOUS!! I got the notice that my package had arrived, it came USPS. I was in the hospital in PCU telling them that my legs & feet hadn't swollen since I added Turmeric to my Dirty Dozen/Clean 15 Diet in 2011!! In a smoothie or mostly grated on my evening salad with ground black pepper to activate ( I can't do red pepper flakes because I have severe pancreatitis)
In my mind I'm thinking I have no way to get it out of the mailbox!! The next afternoon after being Discharged........When I opened the plastic outer package I discovered it was in a paper bag! I immediately thought avocado, as ripening YET they were Huge, No Mold or discoloration, pump, fresh, better than I've seen at my local Whole Foods. I'm ordering Again next week (see pics)

It IS AMAZING!!! I'm only 52 but have osteoarthritis due to Lyme Disease (6 hip replacements, + R-knee headed to bone-on-bone). I WAS getting the, VERY PAINFUL, Synvisc injections in the knee every 6 mos, + cortisone shots 3-4/year, (+NSAID’s like naproxen/ibuprofen 3, 3-4X daily). The Synvisc shots would only last 4 1/2 to 5mos, b4 I’d be back in MAJOR CHRONIC PAIN. + it never did •COMPLETELY• take away the pain. Well, NO MORE SHOTS for ME, & NO MORE CHRONIC PAIN, @ least for NOW!!! Now I run up & down our stairs, LIKE A KID, after starting my NEW “treatment”, & THIS is it: I •grind 2-3inches, of ORGANIC turmeric, every AM in a coffee grinder, •add to cold beverage of choice (I use 1/4c water)...& it’s ready to drink! •OR• do as I’ve done since learning their benefits= I usually add 1 T -crushed black pepper + 1 packet-vitamin c powder (reasons: pepper increases body’s absorption of curcumin [from turmeric] & curcumin increases body’s absorption of vit-c). When the fizzing from vit-c stops, I drink it down in 2-3 gulps (yukky taste/texture...but SO WORTH IT)! NO MORE PRESCRIPTION ANTIINFLAMMATORIES for THIS GAL! No longer NEEDED!!! Typically, my ONLY joint pain now is my R-knee, & usually just when I move it after being still for very long! Truly, you MUST try turmeric!

*CAREFUL-almost EVERYthing that wet turmeric/juice touches stains ORANGE! I brush my teeth after dosing, just in case!!!

••••2 UPDATEs 1/8/19••••
1) HIPS: L-hip is fine, but 6 mos ago, I tripped & fell, landing on R (bad!) knee, which caused my R-hip to dislocate. BUT, after yet ANOTHER hip replacement (#7!), I was on vicodin for ONLY 2 DAYS b4 being able to just use Aleve for the pain! —2 DAYS—!!
2) R-knee: 5 1/2mos ago, when I went in for the 2 week post-op follow-up, i asked this new ortho surgeon to x-ray the knee. He came back in the room & looking incredulous, said: “I don’t know HOW you’re walking, because your R-knee is literally BONE-ON-BONE”!!!
But I DO walk ! & I DO SO 90% of the time, w/ZERO limp!

Granted, I absolutely WILL be having to get that knee replaced, & sooner rather than later, but I plan on continuing my turmeric regime until my days here have come to an end (=hopefully a VERYYY LONG TIME from now!!) because it IS MY BELIEF, turmeric (ESPECIALLY the -flavor of the earth- brand organic turmeric, available RIGHT HERE on Amazon!) has made an enormous difference in the determination of my quality of life after surviving Lyme & the so far, 7 major surgeries for problems caused BY Lyme (#1 being osteoarthritis @ an early age). I am BEYOND THANKFUL for the AWESOME QUALITY OF LIFE with which I have been blessed!

Granted, I absolutely WILL be having to get that knee replaced, & sooner rather than later, but I plan on continuing my turmeric regime until my days here have come to an end (=hopefully a VERYYY LONG TIME from now!!)!!!

I decided to try turmeric root due to its claimed anti-inflammatory properties, which I thought might help with my asthma.

It took a few weeks for my first batch to arrive (which I knew before I purchased). When it did arrive it was all in great fresh condition, no molding or soft roots. I stored it in the fridge and it stayed fresh for several weeks (much to my amazement). Interestingly, I bought some ginger root from my local supermarket at the same time and that went off more quickly than this did.

I use turmeric in my fresh juice drinks or finely chopped / grated in salad. You don't need much as it is a strong distinctive flavor, which I personally like. I would describe the flavor as 'perfumed' in a similar way to how earl grey tea is 'perfumed' (I don't mean that it tastes like earl grey tea). I have found that when I use it cold, it seems to help my asthma. However, I did try making a turmeric cappuccino with it and I found that this brought on my asthma very quickly.

In addition, I give a small root of turmeric to my 2 pot bellied pigs 3 or 4 times a week.

I have now bought this twice and both times I have been really happy with it. The second time, it arrived more quickly.

I have ordered this product repeatedly from Amazon but must have gotten a different supplier this time. This was the worst quality turmeric root that I have ever seen. It looks like it sat in someone's basement for years rotting away. I had to throw most of it in the garbage. The stuff I was buying at the local grocery store is better quality and that usually had mold growing on it. The pieces were shriveled, filled with bug/rot holes, smelled of ammonia, was extremely bitter, many pieces were pale yellow instead of the beautiful bright orange I am used to.I really should have attempted to get me money back. I have learned, if it does not have "Fiji Fresh" listed and included in the packaging, I do not want it.
