Lightweight, safe, and easy-to-carry, UST's WetFire Tinder is guaranteed to light in windy or wet conditions. Requiring just a small amount of tinder to build a fire, you can shave off a small piece or use the entire cube depending on the level of wind or moisture. WetFire tinder burns up to 5 minutes and can be extinguished instantly. Offering a 5-year shelf life, the cubed tinders are individually packed to maintain freshness. They're great for use in combination with any UST sparking device, including StrikeForce, SparkForce, BlastMatch, and Sparkie (sold separately). Available in 5-, 8-, and 12-pack quantities. UST Brands has been manufacturing camping, survival, personal safety, and emergency preparedness equipment for over 80 years, including innovative LED lights, all-weather fire starters, premium outdoor cutting tools, camp kitchen products, first aid kits, unbreakable signal mirrors, and more.

The only upside to these is they come packaged in a nice little bag so you don't have to worry about them getting wet.
At first I really did enjoy these. They're relatively compact and yes they smell a bit like gasoline but you won't notice until you open them. They light quick and stay lit to get your fire going.
The more I used these the less economical I felt they were. They absolutely work as advertised but with their convenience comes their price.
I will still keep these in the emergency stash so I have them as an option. For the next camping season I'm going to use some generic fire starting logs/sticks and see if those work better. The trade off there is weight and size.
These can also get crushed if you forget them in a pocket or if you're trying to prep the fire and someone stands next to you and steps on it by not seeing it.
My recommendation is think about how/where you would use these and if there is anything else that might work.
Some folks have posted about them not working very well. Must be user error. As long as their little bag is still sealed airtight, (like a bag of chips before it pops) I've used these for a couple of years after their expiration date and they still work well.
As with any piece of survival gear, test it at home in a controlled environment first to set your expectations around it's capabilities and limitations. Don't wait until your in the backcountry to rely on it before you try it.
In fact, the only thing that would make it better is if you had a little case or something to keep the packets in once you unsealed one of them and partially used it. I can't knock the product for that. If you wanted to you could pre-shave some of this into an altoids or other small conainer and just pinch what you need to get a fire going.
The lighter fluid wouldn't start it. It burnt off before the wood would light. The wetfire tinder however, got that baby blazing. Now maybe you say the lighter fluid did all the work and the tinder came in for the knockout, but I don't think so. That little square really got things going. I say this is essential to have anytime you go camping. It's a game changer
Though it would be cool to get a discount/free stuff for my honest review, I did not get any.. This is all me spending my $ and giving my honest review.
