Having used this model everyday for the last three months, here are my pros and cons:
+ Powerful enough with brushroll to handle flat and carpeted surfaces
+ Lights up to highlight surfaces
+ Convenient cord (no issues with batteries losing charge)
- weight distribution (see below)
- canister not removable and empties in a way reverse my natural inclination
- does not stand on its own when not in use
Overall this is a great vacuum that ably serves as a simple hardwood only vacuum cleaner and a heavier duty carpeted vacuum cleaner. The price point (at $150) is reasonable. But my main issue is with the weight distribution.
Unlike those bulky upright vacuum cleaners, this Shark model puts all the weight in the handle which allows for easier maneuverability and overall lighter weight. But because of this, if you vacuum for more than 10 minutes at a time (which is always for me) you eventually feel a dull gradual strain in your shoulders. For reference, I'm a healthy average sized male who lifts weights in spare time, so I have no problem with dumbbells four times this weight. But the weight distribution of this vacuum makes it feel like you're holding a 20 lb dumbbell in midair.
Hard to get everything you want in a single vacuum but this model's one miss can't help but leave me sorely disappointed.
